The schoolbag limitation weight act is passed and being implemented in KPK province.
No more heavy school bags for the students of KPK. The school bag weight will be between 1.5 Kg for pre-grade 1 student which will grow gradually and can reach 7 Kg for grade 12 students. Each grade or class school bag will be different.
Minister of education KPK Sheram terrakai tweeted that
'I'm glad to announce that the provincial government has approved the schoolbags limitation weight act today which will regulate the weight of school bags. Khyber Pukhtun khaw is the first province to introduce such legislation. A long due relief for children and parents.
Kpk government's initiative on passing school bag weight limitation is taken with mixed reactions from parents. On one side parentsnt are feeling relieved but they're not clear that how the KPK government will implement the act and what are plans.
Some parents ask that would KP government will provide lockers at schools or change the homework system.
The parents from other provinces also asked for such acts to be followed at their places too.
At this time school bag weight for students of class 4 to class 10 is about 13kg to 15 Kg which children daily carry on their shoulders and sometimes use school stairs carrying such heavy loaded school bags.
