Signal and Telegram are grabbing WhatsApp users rapidly. Recently Whatsapp have observed a considerable drop in new users while apparently, losing it Signal and Telegram. Signal and Telegram are messaging apps that have observed a sudden increase in use and downloading after WhatsApp’s updated terms of service. WhatsApp's new terms of services have raised troubling concerns on social media.
WhatsApp is ruling as the most used online messaging app globally. WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014 and claimed to be Facebook's best investment ever.
In no time, WhatsApp for its convenient and private features became a household name in every corner of the world. Later, Facebook announced changes in basic features of WhatsApp that raised many eyebrows on WhatsApp's real purpose. First WhatsApp links to the online business store and online ads raised questions.
Now, on Wednesday, WhatsApp asked users to agree to let owner Facebook and its subsidiaries obtain user data, comprising their phone number and location.
Some privacy concerns questioned the “accept our data grab or get out” move on Twitter. They suggested users switch to apps like Signal and Telegram to secure their privacy.
Signal’s popularity also shot up when it was endorsed by Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, who have the most-followed accounts on Twitter.
According to media reports, more than 100,000 users installed Signal across the app stores of Apple and Google in the last two days. On the other side, Telegram got up nearly 2.2 million downloads. The Telegram raising users were observed by data analytics firm Sensor Tower.
Sensor Tower reported that new installs of WhatsApp fell 11% in the first seven days of 2021 compared with the prior week. WhatsApp still amounted to an estimated 10.5 million downloads globally but it seems that Signal and Telegram are ready to share the big market of WhatsApp after the app is changing its privacy policies rapidly.
Signal and Telegram took a jab at WhatsApp on their Twitter accounts and assured their users of the security of their privacy.
