National dresses of Pakistan- Traditional Pakistani dresses
A national dress symbolizes the country's culture, significance and roots. A national dress is widely accepted and worn in all parts of country. There are many other traditional dresses that are worn locally. Pakistan, a country with approx. 200 million people also has a rich culture and various style of dresses are worn in its parts but here we'll tell you about national dress and traditional dresses of Pakistan.
National Dress of Pakistan
Pakistan National dress is Pakistani Shalwar Kameez for both men and women. Shalwar Kameez is liked and worn as a daily wear in all areas of Pakistan by men and women. Shalwar Kameez is an elegant and comfortable dress that signifies the social, and religious significance of Pakistani culture.
The national dress shalwar kameez with distinct additions and modifications are worn in all provinces & culture in Pakistan. The people dress up very pleasingly and in the same way in all the tribes and cities. Turban is the common headwear of Bloch, and Punjabi men. Sindhi cap, Pathani cap and Gilgiti cap is worn by men in Sindh, KPK and Gilgit Baltistan respectively.

Shalwar is a loose trouser from top which is tied on the waist using drawstring or elastic. The bottom cuff of shalwar is called 'Painccha' that is narrow. Some of shalwar are styled with pleats at the edge. A Shalwar with straight loose bottom (without paincha) is also called trouser.
Kameez is a knee length shirt with collar, half buttoned neckline, cuff and a round bottom in men. A kameez is also called Kurta when its sleeves are straight loose and shirt bottom is straight. Men also wear waist coat on kameez occasionally.
In women, kameez is worn with a lot of styles. A Pakistani kameez for a woman has a knee length with full sleeves. A knee length kameez with full sleeves, a small neckline and loose fitting is liked, accepted and worn by women in Pakistan. Women also wear long scarf called dupatta with shalwar kameez in Pakistan National dress. Shalwar kameez in women are decorated with embroidery and laces.
Women cover their heads and wrap their above body parts using duppata in all parts of Pakistan. A dupatta is also called Chadar or shawl in some areas.

Traditional Dress Punjab:
Men and women wear shalwar kameez in Punjab. Men sometimes wear "dhoti" with kameez and wear turban(pagri) on head. Punjabi women styled themselves with shalwar kameez rich in colours and also wear traditional punjabi jhoomer and tika occasionally.
Traditional dress of KPK Province:
The traditional dress of Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan for women is "Pathani frock" also called "khat" or "chaugha" worn with the Peshawari shalwar also called partug which is very loose down to the ankles. The pathani frock or kameez is fits closely to the body to the waist and then flares out up to knees. The upper part of frock is embroidered with the needlework and mirrors. Women also wear traditional head jewelry occasionally.
Men in KPK wear loose shalwar kameez with pathani cap, or turban. A black waistcoat is also popular with shalwar kameez in men.
Traditional Dress of Sindh:
In daily life, like other provinces of Pakistani, Balochi men and women wear shalwar kameez. Men wear loose fitting shalwar kameez with turban on head. Women wear a loose kameez that is embroidered or has an applique work at front with a shalwar with pleats. Women in Balochistan also wear head jewelry occasionally.
Traditional dress Kashmir
Men wear shalwar kameez with pashmina (a warm fabric) shawl in Kashmir. Women wear kameez with loose trousers in daily life. Kashmiri women also wear frilled body frocks with big laces on the bottom with shalwar.
