WHY ARAB PRINCES KILL HOUBARA BUSTARD IN PAKISTAN EVERY WINTER BRUTALLY? Ep 8 buried hate n born love- a novel

EP 8

HOUBARA BUSTARD(TILUR) a poor migratory bird
Arab SHEIKHS CAME TO Dalbandin, Balochistan

Every year around December or in January, Arab prince fly to Pakistan to towns at Baluchistan to hunt the poor migratory houbara bustards(Tilur, local language). They approached here on private jets with modified vehicles, jeeps with radar systems and trained falcons to track and to kill their preys. Parts of the Baluchistan regions were particularly allotted to the royal princes and ministers from UAE, Saudi Arabia and other gulf states. More specifically they grab the 'license to kill' the birds brutally from government of Pakistan. 'Houbara meat seek you a pleasurable life' this myth at Arab world chases this poor bird at every corner in east when they migrate here to breed and to spend winter quarters. Their servants rush into local's crops look for any drowned bird and caused to ruin the harvest even. She still remember that many times Arabs don’t even bother to pick the killed or injured poor fowl after hitting them when they were bored of their Bar B Q feast. They just hit blind to seek pleasure of hunting and locals witnessed the heaps of dead birds at sides. These memories always discomforts her. 'Why Pakistan government allow Arabs prince to hunt on their poor migratory guests? what diplomacy pakistan play over here? May be she knew its answer as local since her childhood. She stopped at the picture when her mind stuck on memory when an incident at one hunting season changed her life. on that day all her cousins were gathered around the bonfire in dry, chilly December at Dalbandin(a city at Balochistan, province, Pakistan). She was in grade 7 then. Her goof cousin Ehsaanullah took this picture when they were talking about the Arab’s visit there.

SHOOTING WAS HER PASSION FROM CHILDHOOD
Anza was fond of guns from her childhood. She had a lot of pictures with different guns at Dalbandin, which she borrowed from her father and cousins. In start her father didn’t take it serious. Her cousins made fun of her when she insisted them to include her in their shooting games. With time Anza’s abilities were evident to all. She always beat her cousins while shooting the flying birds or when they set empty glass bottles as targets. They all got amazed by looking at pieces of glass, shattering in the sky after she took the gun in her hands. His father told her about many new guns after looking at her interest. There were also pictures of Arab sheikhs came to their home at parties.
LATEST GADGETS AND PREPARATIONS FOR HUNTING

‘This year prince of Qatar is coming with latest vehicles and equipment to hunt the bird,’ Ehsanullah told all of them when they were eating almonds in the orchard. ‘Their temporary luxury rest houses are under construction, there will be festivity now. I'm hoping to get any watch or any gold chain or...,’ he wrapped his shawl tight, as it was very cold this year.
‘Poor bird, he comes here to survive from the harsh winters of Siberia but they can’t run from brutal hunters. their numbers are decreasing day by day,’ Jasia aapi’s soft heart felt sad for the little guests.
‘Last year one prince killed about 500 birds and most of them were not eaten but thrown to rubbish,’ one of their cousin added his information.
POWERFUL VISITORS

‘Its afternoon now and I hardly hunt two birds,’ one of the princes said desperately after missing his shot. They were passing by her jeep. The scene was same with other hunters too.

JEEP USED TO DETECT BIRDS LOCATION FOR HUNTING
‘How poor, even with radars they can’t hunt properly,’ Anza was tired of looking them missing the shots one by one. She looked at his father’s gun, which he kept in his vehicle. There was no one around. She took the gun, it was loaded, she targeted a little bird and hit. In no time she hit three birds.

‘Who is there? Who did this? Fire came from parking side. Everyone looked at the falling birds. Security men ran to parking area and started to search for the hunter.
‘I did this, by mistake, I am sorry,’ Ehsanullah reached there first and took the gun from Anza.

EHSANULLAH WAS GIFTED A BMW CAR FROM Arab PRINCE

‘You scared us all, you shouldn’t fire when our prestigious guests are hunting around,’ one of security man yelled on him.
‘Doesn’t matter, he has done a great job. I have rarely seen such a superb hit,’ one prince came forward and offered him the keys of his imported BMW.
‘This is your reward for the outstanding hit. Keep on the practicing. I believe you’ll go too far in this area.’ That prince was praising Ehsanullah cheerfully.
‘Thank you very much,’ Ehsanullah looked at Kamal khan and hold the keys at once.
‘Such a precise hitting! It can’t be him,’ Kamal khan smelt something suspicious who also reached there.
Kamal Khan was Anza's father. He traded his fruits to all cities of Balochistan. He studied at Quetta University and joined his father’s business. He expanded the fruit trade to KPK.  He loved his daughters and wanted to give them the best education.
‘We should go to the fields again to continue our feast,’ Kamal Khan instantly turned to Arab guests as he saw Anza’s dupatta coming out from the empty sacks.
KAMAL KHAN DECIDED TO LEAVE DALBANDIN
‘If anyone saw you there, you just can’t imagine the consequences,’
‘Are you mad Ehsanullah, you’re older than her, I can’t imagine this foolishness from you,’ Kamal khan was furious on both of them. All family members were talking about Anza’s foolish activity.
‘She forced me to take her with us. She gave the plan,’ Ehsanullah was justifying his position. Kamal khan was really worried after this incident. He already wanted to leave Dalbandin but this incident put stamp on his decision. He shifted to Lahore with his family and established his fruit business over there. He bought fruit orchards near Lahore and expanded his business to other cities.  Anza was in 8th class then. He got their admissions in a renowned school of the city. Anza’s abilities flourished over there. Soon she became the best athlete of her school. She participated and won in many national and international archery and shooting competition.....,'
'Its your sister's wedding today and you're dumped in room with this family album,' her mother opened the door.
Anza checked the mobile to look for Nofil's call. 'come outside,' her mother yelled again

RABIA’S WEDDING DAY
The house was full of guests now. Rabia went to parlor with her friend. Jasia aapi also went to parlor leaving her two kids with her. Baba arranged a coaster to take all guests to the hotel. Her whole family came from Dalbandin to attend the ceremony. He looked at his father from the window. He was looking weak and tired. Jasia aapi’s husband was helping him but he didn’t want to rely on anyone.
She came inside and helped her mother to put the gifts in the car. Her mother looked at her and sat on sofa. She started to sigh.
‘Mama, please, don’t cry, she is not going too far. She will come to meet you, whenever you will want,’ Anza hugged her.
‘Umm..Have you checked all the gifts,’ she tried to compose herself but someone very dear is about to leave, it could be felt in every inch of house. They left the house at 6pm as they had to host the ceremony. Rabia was looking gorgeous in red lehnga. She prayed for her sister’s blessed future. When her mother came with a woman
‘Anza, she is Mrs. Babar Laghari. She is my daughter Anza. She is a doctor,’ mama introduced both of them with each other. She called her son at once. He was nice and decent looking man. He was a forest officer as her mother told her before.  They had some chat and then Anza went to other guests.
WEDDING CUSTOMS, A BURDEN ON BRIDES FAMILY
It went late in fulfilling the so called customs, which were totally a burden on bride’s parents. Rabia was being married in a Punjabi family which was very ‘khandani’. It was their right to get a lot of gifts in form of clothes and jewelry other than the dowry from bride’s parents because it happened in ‘khandani’ families, which Rabia’s mother in law told them many times. Anza didn’t like these customs at all but there was no other way out.  They said farewell to Rabia with a lot of prayers and

tears. She checked her mobile late at night.
Nofil’S MESSAGES
Nofil sent her a lot of pictures in dragon costume and of dragon boat race. He wished her for her sister’s wedding. He was also sorry that he couldn’t come in her engagement at weekend because of seminar. Anza smiled looking at the messages and went to sleep.
NO ONE CALLED LI
Li was constantly looking at his mobile. ‘No one called since he disconnected his mother’s call. I want to tell everyone about my victory but I’ll wait for their call first. I believe Chen will call me to tell how she spent her day,’ he thought and put his mobile back in his pocket. Nofil was sending the pictures of race to all his friends including Anza....
