National Medical and Dental
Medical College Admission is an entry test that is mandatory to take admission
in any Public or Private medical college of Pakistan to grab MBBS or BDS
degrees. After passing MDCAT , candidates can apply in any of Public or Private
medical colleges in Pakistan.
SEATS OF MEDICAL COLLEGES, Pakistan
- There are 19 public and 43 registered medical colleges in Punjab. about 3405 seats available in Public Medical Colleges of Punjab. About 4300 seats are available in private medical colleges of Punjab.
About 1350 seats are available just in Lahore out of total 3405 seats in Punjab. The merit of public medical colleges is above 90% and private medical colleges are between 70%-90%.
- There are 11 public and 15 private registered medical colleges in Sindh. There 2050 seats available in public medical colleges and 1500 seats in private medical colleges of Sindh province.
- There are 10 Public and 10 private registered medical colleges in KPK which comprise 900 seats in Public and 850 seats in private medical colleges of KP.
- There are 5 Public & 2 private registered Medical Colleges in Balochistan with a capacity of about 5000 students. There are 100 seats in public and 100 seats in private medical college of Baluchistan.
- Gilgit Baltistan has 1 public medical college. There are also medical seats available in Pakistan institute of Medical Sciences institutes Gilgit Batistan 2020-21.
- Azad Kashmir has 3 public and 3 private registered medical colleges.
MERIT OF
MEDICAL COLLEGES:
If a student attains above 1050 marks out of
1100 in HSSC and attains above 185 marks out of 200 in MDCAT entry test then
he/she has fair chances to get admission in any of public medical college in
Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar in Pakistan.

merit is observed in all Public medical colleges throughout Pakistan. The Public
medical college merit in Sindh, Baluchistan, GB, Kashmir and KPK remains above

The merit
of Public colleges is too high. If any student is lucky to attain above 90%
marks in HSSC or A-level then he/she may lack in entry test and similarly,
sometimes a very good result of MDCAT entry test is not compatible with FSc,
A-level Or SAT 2 marks of a candidate. Then many students fail to get admission
in public medical colleges. A decade before, it was a dream to achieve the goal
“to become a doctor” and we observed many young students to get depressed for
not having any choice other than of public medical colleges, but the situation
is different now.
