HOW THE MOON IS SIGHTED IN PAKISTAN FOR EID-UL-FITR

There are 12 months in the Hijri calendar. The actual day of Eid-ul-Fitr is announced after moon sighting or after seeing the crescent (moon of the first night) on the evening of the 29th date of Ramzan. A public meeting of the Ruet –e Hilal committee is held at federal and provincial levels in Pakistan. The individuals are asked to contact the committee if they find glimpses of the crescent at their places. The Whatsapp numbers and phone numbers are shared on websites so that people can inform the committee if they have sighted the moon. After receiving the authentic evidence of moon sighting from anywhere in the country, the committee announces the Eid-ul-Fitr right the next day. In case, there are not any pieces of evidence of the moon sighting from anywhere in the country, the committee announces Eid, one day after, and Muslims observe one more fast on 30th Ramzan. The finding of the crescent and an element of surprise about the actual date of Eid-ul-Fitr increases the festivity and excitement connected to Eid-ul-Fitr. Then Eid ul Fitr's actual dates vary depending upon the moon sighting witnessing on the evening of 29th Ramadan.

We know, Eid-ul-Fitr after 29th Ramzan is a favorite of every Muslim but it is expected that Ramzan will be for 30 days this year and Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Friday, May 14, 2021.

On Eid ul, Fitr Muslims thank Allah for giving them the strength to complete the obligatory fasts. Muslims also give an amount called fitra to the poor and needy.
