Tie-dye with bleach
This is a very simple
technique to tie-dye a colored dress. We recommend you to start tie-dye from any
used T-shirts at homes. Mostly tie dye works best on polyester or mix type of
stuff. I’ve tried it on my cotton dress and it also worked well. My daughter, age 11, loves to use this tie-dye
bleach technique on her old T-shirts to give them new looks. Let's start:
- Wear gloves
- Mix one cup bleach, one cup water in a spray bottle.
- Fold the dress or simply roll it like a ball
- Tie it tight with rubber band
- Spray bleach mixture on the dress from all sides
- Wait for 2-3 minutes
- Untie the cloth
- Soak it in simple water for few minutes
- Let it dry in an open place
- Your cool tie-dye shirt is ready just in 5 minutes.
Tie-dye on white dress method
If you want to Tie-dye on
a white dress then you need to use chemical colors of your choice.
- Soak the dress in vinegar and water mixture for one hours
- Take out dress and fold it in as many layers you want
- Tie the dress with rubber bands
- Mix 8 drops of color in 150 ml on water in a spray bottle
- Wear gloves
- Spray the folded dress from all sides
- Leave it for 6-8 hours
- Cut the rubber bands, unfold the dress and hang it outside
- You tie-dye shirt is ready
Precaution: Don’t wash
tie-dye dresses with other dresses as it may leave color.
You can use food color to
dye a dress but it’ll fade away with time so it s better to use chemical
colours.
Fold the dress according to
the pattern
