STORY OF A MISSING PERSON FROM LAHORE-EP 18 buried hate n born love- a novel

‘Anza, do you have any contact with Bilal or did he tell you anything for his future plans? She asked her as soon as she saw Anza.
‘No, we are not in touch for many moths actually I was busy in my final exams….’

‘Anza, we know nothing about Bilal for two months. He sat out for university for his exam and didn’t come back. He wanted to go abroad. He was quarreling with his father for money for many days. Some people say he had been killed while crossing the border illegally. Some say that he may be anywhere in police custody but no one is giving accurate information about him,’ she cut Anza down and started to cry.
‘Aunty, please sit down.’ Anza also got worried. She asked her maid to fetch a glass of water.
‘Your family has so many contacts, please help us in finding him,’ she just took one sip and put the glass back at the table.
‘I’ll ask my father to look for him,’ Anza consoled her.
‘I got your address from his diary,’ Anza looked at medium sized diary covered in black leather at the side table under her bag.
‘I thought he might contact you meanwhile, as he didn’t have any friends except you or we couldn’t know any one else,’ her mother was very upset.  Anza assured her for help and came back to drawing room. She was also worried for him when she peered at the diary that fell at one side of table.
FIRST MEETING OF BILAL AND ANZA

‘If I’m not mistaken you are Anza Khan, national archery champion,’ he came to her when she was taking refreshment after his golf match in Royal Palm club Lahore.  Anza looked up and stood up at once in excitement,’
‘And if I’m not mistaken, you are Bilal Malik, athlete of the year,’
‘Oh, you know me,’ Bilal got embarrassed for a while.

‘Every sports person of the country will definitely know you. I saw your skills at national games two months back. I was also there.’
‘Yes, I also see you in many games participating from women’s side,’ Bilal explained.
‘Are you a new member here? I have not seen you before,’ she asked him abruptly.
No, yes, actually ….’Bilal didn’t want to disclose the means of his presence. So he took pause to think what to say.
‘Its ok, its very good place to improve and polish the fitness of sports lovers. Let me visit you this place, Anza didn’t wait for his answer. She knew a common man couldn’t enter the gates of this club. She guided him to squash club and showed him different parts of that area.

DISAGREEMENTS OF BILAL AND ANZA
In no time they became good friends, as there interest was same, ‘sports’. They mostly talk about upcoming events, lack of facilities and modern techniques in Pakistan that’s why they are not able to compete at international level.  They talked about the talent and hard work from youth in sports from all around the country.
Apart from sports they had disagreement on almost every issue. They had long debates on social and political issues around. Anza was very emotional towards Pakistan. She always remained optimistic for its bright future, and hated any thing, any one, any where against its country but Bilal always wanted to go abroad. He had a lot of complaints towards the suppressing and corrupt system prevailing all around.
DISCONTENTMENT OF BILAL
Bilal belonged to middle class family. His father was a government servant and owned a small house here.  They were having content life but Bilal was not happy with his life, he always wished to be a part of elite class and his propensity increased too much when by looking at his talent, his sports guide referred him this club with the intercede of local businessman. He was allowed to go to some parts of that club contrary the normal members. With time he also enjoyed parties, concerts and social gatherings with the intercession of Anza.

ANZA'S SUPPORT
He got chance to meet renowned politicians and tycoon businessmen over here. Anza introduced him with her family at annual dinner. She also met his mother, two sisters and a younger brother at the final match, who came there to buck up him.  At that time they were super excited to be selected for Olympics in Paris, France. They both did a tough practice for their competitions and at last the time flown and they landed at Paris with other participants.
OLYMPICS AT PARIS

‘What are you doing in the room, we are going to visit the stunning Paris, just be ready. We only got a day free from our events,’ Anza came in his room.
’Anza, you know just after a month, we are having our final exams and I want to prepare for it,’ he look at the physics hand book for the solution and ignored her.
‘Don’t tell me that you brought your books with you. The whole city is full of lights and colors. We are going to famous Eifel tower, Arc De Triomphe and then Champs Elysees for shopping. We already have very less time to see the whole city and you’re wasting your time in boring studies,’ Anza looked at his books amazingly.
‘Anza, please let me study,’ Bilal saw her annoyingly.
‘Look at me, I’ll just study at last moment and will take eighty percent plus like last year. No more excuses just come out side,’ Anza closed his notebooks.
‘You can do it because you’ll hire subject specialist tuitions at home like before. You are relaxed because you can apply in any university in the world as self finance student. Life is tough for us. I have to work hard to get enough good grades that at least I can get admission in any government university on merit. I’m not that lucky child whose parents can get me admitted in any university just to meet my dream of becoming an engineer. Heavy fees of private universities are out of their reach,’ Bilal got furious.
‘Ok, don’t be so angry. Promise I’ll arrange a same tutor for you. You can pay me back when you’ll become an engineer on merit,’ Anza got worried on his strange behavior.
‘I don’t need your assistance. I’ll do it fine myself. Ok, I know you will not go from here. Ok let’s go,’ Bilal wore his jacket and came outside with her.
The dream was over. The Olympics were finished. They were very happy with their medals. Bilal got silver medal in wait lifting and Anza got gold medal in archery competitions. Soon they got busy in their exams. On that day Anza was so relaxed after the stressful exams. She was playing tennis with her friends when he saw Bilal coming out of the swimming pool.
ANGRY YOUNG MAN
He came to tennis court and sat at one side.
‘Finally, Mr. angry young man is free of exams and have time for friends,’ Anza saw him sitting at side and came towards him at once.
‘Thanks god the jinni of exams is ceased. I had a lot of pressure, thanks for your referred teacher. It helped me a lot,’ Bilal acted to sigh.
‘Yes, but still the clouds of entry tests are hovering upon us,’ Anza packed her rackets.
‘I dame care about them.’ Bilal got amazed on his self-reliance…..

INCREASING FRUSTRATION OF BILAL

Soon the result day arrived, Anza got very good marks and she easily cleared her medical entry test. Bilal could hardly get first division.
‘Don’t be upset, we’ll see for any scholarships in renowned universities, just keep your fingers crossed’ Anza tried to persuade him.
‘How come, everything costs money and intercession here,’ Bilal looked disappointed but he was right. He got admission in electrical engineering with a help of very rich politician, who sponsored him there on sportsmen seats.
‘I told you, this is the world of having links,’ he maintained his good relations with many rich and influential people in time.
‘I think no one does the favor, without considering its benefit,’ Anza warned him.
‘Then what? And by the way, what can I give to any one at this time,’ Bilal tried to consoled her.
They got busy in studies. They off and on meet at sports events and chatted on their future plans but Anza noticed an increasing aggression and exasperation in him. He had complaints with almost every thing. He was least interested in sports now; even he avoided meeting her.
‘‘I don’t want to play from this country, which haven’t given me anything,’ Anza got stunt after listening from him one day.
‘This country gave you opportunities, distinction, admiration and..,’
‘This all I got from my own efforts otherwise I would be nowhere,’ he almost screamed.
‘Seriously it’s not the matter of education or poverty, it’s just our emotional narrative that we’re underestimating the value of our own country,’ Anza felt sorry on his comments even after studying in the renowned institute.
‘Oh please, don’t start again,’ Bilal got annoyed.
Years passed like the fast flowing water. It was about to the end of their graduation now, when Anza came to club after a long break.

THE PAIN OF REJECTION
‘It’s too tough to come back in the form after a break,’ Anza swept her sweat and holds the water bottle to her mouth. She was looking gorgeous in navy blue track suit.
‘Vacations left a good effect on you,’ Bilal looked at her with admiration.
‘But I’m angry with you. You didn’t join us. It was a fun all time. I enjoyed a lot in Jasia aapi’s wedding.  My brother in law owned a CNG station and a shopping mall here but he preferred to live in Dubai.  Now we’ll have to fly Dubai to meet our sister,’ Anza sat in front of him sadly.
‘By the way, why you didn’t come? Your whole family was invited. I’ll ask aunt about it.’ she observed his uncombed hairs, rough small beard, and the torn jeans with the same very old check shirt.
‘He always posed like this near exams as he is going to top this time,’ she thought and smiled.
‘My 4th semester midterms exactly met the days of your sister’s wedding, otherwise I must come,’ he thought of reasonable excuse at once.
‘Don’t you think, this excuse is out of date now? You must think of new ones,’ Anza caught him there.
‘No, actually….,’
‘Leave this, you know what Rabia was saying to me, be ready as it’s my turn now,’ Anza cut him up and continued again. She was looking very excited.
‘I said to her, I’ll not get marry before my studies are finished and I know it take 3 to 4 years to get you settled as well,’ Anza looked at him for his endorsement.
HE REJECTED ME
‘What!  Where do I come from in your marriage?’ Bilal was observing the flying birds in the sky, got attentive to her amazingly.
‘I mean….’ Anza’s all excitement vanished at once. She felt as embarrassed at that time as she never felt before.
‘I don’t think I have ever said anything like this to you. I respect you a lot, in fact you are my only friend for long but marriage…,’ he paused for a while and stood up. He was right. He never showed him any sign of his special attention towards her. They always met and chatted like good acquaintances and nothing more.
‘True feelings don’t need to be revealed with words. They always proof their strength in right time,’ Anza spent all these years in mellifluence. She was in love with him for long but she was waiting for the right time to disclose her feelings. She never imagined a blunt rejection from Bilal. Tears rolled from her eyes.
‘Look Anza, please stop crying. I thought you knew me better than I do. You just told me the financial status of your brother in law. If I sell myself, even then I can’t meet that category.
I'M BOUND
You were right every favor is given at any cost. You know my membership from the club was canceled because I couldn’t visit that businessman’s house that sponsored me there, to teach and trained his duffer son for free. I was doing it for four years but I was busy at my university. You say the excuse of exams has become old, no madam, and its still there. My head of department never forgot to remind me that if I couldn’t get enough grades, then university will cancel my scholar ship. Soon I have to beg to the people, like your brother in law for a reasonable job. That’s why I hate living here. I want to earn a lot of money first. I want to achieve every thing, I wish for. Marriage is never been my cup of tea,’ Bilal was yelling.
‘I think, you are over reacting on this entire situation. Many people have achieved a good name and status after going through the hard work and efforts,’ Anza tried to compose herself.
‘It only happens in films or in dreams, Miss Anza khan. Bright mornings, beautiful evenings, content sleeping…these blessings are fixed just for the people with a lot of money, you’ll see one day these clubs and private universities will beg me for their membership with ‘free’ complementary services. The deans of these universities will further lug me for donations,’ Bilal actually told his goal to her.
DON'T GO BEHIND FAKE RICHES
‘Bilal, you yourself belong to a prosperous family but your eyes are veiled with the glitters of fake riches. Please don’t run behind these. I would be happy with you in any case,’ Anza tried to take the conversation back to track.
Bilal looked at her for while, ‘I value you a lot as a friend and have care for your emotions, but I’m sorry Anza… you never been a girl of my type. We are not compatible to each other. We can’t have an attuned future together.’ He packed his sports kit and got up.
‘I don’t want to lose my friend, I hope you’ll understand,’ he walked to gate without looking at her. She kept on watching him from behind till he crossed the gate. He didn’t turn back.

WHAT TYPE OF GIRL IS HER CHOICE?
‘Stop it Anza, do you think what type of boy he himself was?  He was just an opportunist. He used your friendship to develop his connects. These types of people don’t love to anything or anyone except themselves. He must have better opportunity so he left you. You don’t deserve the greedy and selfish man like him,’ Rabia shouted badly at her as she was continuously crying after coming back.
‘It’s my fault, I never asked him about his choice. He has to tell me the reason to snub me like this. I would definitely ask him,’ Anza cleared her eyes.
‘You’re not going to meet him again,’ Rabia warned him. She herself didn’t have courage to face him again at least for the time being.
For many days Anza remains in depression, he always does that. To quarrel and than becomes regretful is his style. He would definitely come back after some time,’ she kept on convincing herself for many days, when one day she was surprised to see Bilal’s mother in her drawing room. She was looking very pale and weak as she had been crying for many days. and now his mother was here to seek for her help. Anza  came back after she left the house.

BILAL’S DIARY REVEALED HIS FEELINGS
'Oh, she left it here,' she looked at the diary, which was lying under the table.
'it may have some important contacts about Bilal,' she opened it and got stunned
Her name was written and then cut at almost every page. Her phone number, address and other information was written and then cut at many places. Beautiful memories of sports events were also written there which mostly were related to her. His diary was full with stickers of smiles. He had shown his moods with the help of those stickers. Anza sat down and thought of their last conversation for long. ‘May he was afraid of our status difference or…’she thought while staring at the diary.

ANZA'S EFFORTS TO FIND BILAL
She went with Bilal’s mother at many forums to find him. She also protested with her at front of assembly to look for missing people. Just in those days brig. Bakhtiar offered her to join his team and she accepted his offer it at once.
‘This might help me in finding Bilal soon,’ she thought at that time but four years had been passed but she didn’t find any clue about him. Bilal’s family also had started their life again. She came outside to feel the pleasant breeze of Tochi River. I’ll definitely meet Bilal but….,’ she felt a little relax after making her mind and came inside but she didn’t knew, she may never meet him.  She lay on her bed when she felt movement in the room. She got up to take her gun but it was too late. Some men put a handkerchief on her nose and she was unconscious…
