KHAADI owner, wife, income and Khaadi lawn sale updates 2020-fusionstories

“He came, he saw and he conquered” not at all but he came, he saw and put a lot of hard work and showed consistency to conquer. Shamoon Sultan, the owner of “Khaadi”, entered the textile and clothing line with a new idea of handwoven clothes for daily use in Pakistan and excelled in the market in a few years.  Could anyone imagine the fashion brands will pop up and become part of the daily lifestyle in Pakistan before the “KHAADI” sets its goal in the market?   Khaadi is a proud fashion brand of Pakistan, which started its work with handwoven clothing material for men, women, and children. Later Khaadi excelled in the Khaddi lawn, Khaadi khaas, Khaadi Khadar, and home stuff.

We searched out a success story behind Shamoon Sultan and the fashion tycoon brand “Khaadi” and found out many sophisticated spots in this journey of its success.
Shamoon Sultan did his graduation from Indus valley, Karachi in 1996 and started to work with another designer Noorjahan to grab an experience. Shamoon also visited India meanwhile and noticed their craftsman skills, handwoven clothing style, and experiment with all mediums of fashion that was missed in the Pakistani market at that time. He came back and talked to handwoven laborers in his locality and ordered them to work for his store. He was lucky to get 30 lakh rupees (a handsome amount to start in late 90's) from his father, who was a businessman too but in another line. Shamoon invested that money in buying the cotton yarn, paying to his workers and in managing his store. He opened his first khaadi store in Zamzama Karachi in 1998, to display his work. Contrary to his business expectations, his hard work, vision, and idea bore its fruit and all his stock was sold out in a few weeks. Butwas it as simple as we think? Not at all, we come to know from Shamoon’s many interviews that he ran out of money in a short time that he had to close his store. Anyone can imagine how difficult it would be dealing with the cloth mills and workers with a new idea. Shamoon even thought to join his father then.
Shamoon’s passion for gathering Pakistan’s handwoven labors under one roof and fabricating a separate brand was still there. Shamoon Sultan continued to learn the market patterns and developed business skills with time. From changing the laborers' mindset to weave the cotton yarn in a new style and catering their needs to fabricate vibrant designs, Shamoon tried to do everything challenging.

“I didn’t have the idea that it would turn into a big brand when I started Khaadi. I had to bear the financial loss and non-professional attitudes in this journey, but all became the part of the experience. As we were the only competitors of ourselves at that time, but we’ve left goals for newcomers”. Shamoon told in one of his interviews.

Khaadi comes to Khaadi lawn and prêt wear while understanding the demand of women in Pakistan. The khaadi store with an original variety of “khaadi lawn” is a big demand in all cities of Pakistan. When we talk about the Khaddi lawn, then again it was not easy to compete with the lawn producing textile mills having years of experience, but again Khaadi gives tough competition in any sale season of a lawn. Ladies wait and rush to khaadi outlets on any announcement on khaddi sale due to its quality product. Khaadi is an effort to bring the local Pakistani craftsman, textile labors and fashion designers on the stage and gave them honor, they deserved for years. Shamoon seems to content on copying of Khaadi prints and he knows that only famous brands achieve worth to get copied worldwide.

The Khaadi saw its rise again from 2005 and deliberately became the leading fashion and textile brand. Khaadi now has more than 50 stores in Pakistan and worldwide. Khaadi has 17 stores in the UK. You can find Khaadi stores in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, America too. Khaadi lawn and other stuff are also available online and shipped across the world.  Now, people know Shamoon Sultan as a successful textile designer and textile businessman who has won many awards for his clothing brand.

Shamoon Sultan married to Saira Sultan. Saira is also a graduate from Indus Valley and is in the fashion designing line. Shamoon and Saira Sultan are also known as a power couple of the fashion industry.

Like any other successful business, khaadi is also investing in opening new stores, producing unique clothes, and meeting the new challenges of the market. We don’t observe an official statement regarding the income or net worth of Shamoon Sultan or khaadi but according to a few reports, Khaadi is touching a digit of billions from its earning. The revenues of khaadi have crossed Rs 15 billion, including foreign exchange from outside Pakistan, which is very positive and encouraging.
We wish Khaadi a very prosperous future and want to see our very own Pakistani brand rise and shine in the coming years.
