Drama Jalan writer call out PEMRA on ban

Drama 'Jalan' writer angry with PEMRA

ARY Digital drama serial 'Jalan' which was under fire because of its content got banned by PEMRA last week. The writer of the drama Sidra Sehar Imran is not happy with PEMRA's decision to put a ban after 13 episodes. Sidra Sehar called out PEMRA on the ban of drama JALAN.

Sidra in an interview with Urdu independent expressed that the critics of the drama content actually have not seen the drama.

'It's a story of two sisters, not a story of a relationship and an affair between a sister to her brother-in-law.

The central idea of Jalan is to highlight the issue of comparison between siblings and how this comparison destroys the families eventually.' Sidra continued.

She urged that PEMRA should be made it clear that what is our moral and social limits and what we can show and what not!

'Will all sister-in-law fell in love with brother-in-law after watching my drama?' the writer of drama Jalan inquired.

'The families who think that the content of drama will affect the minds of their family, then they should grab the remote and just change the channel. There are hundreds of channels on TV nowadays,' the writer of banned drama Jalan spoke out.

'The purpose of drama was to bring out the issue that parents' attitudes and dealing with their kids severely affect their characters.

In our society, elder sisters and brothers are asked to sacrifice on many things and this poorly impacts the personalities of younger siblings.' she wrapped up.

The drama serial Jalan was a story of two sisters from a middle class. The elder sister got married to a handsome guy who belonged to an elite class in an arranged proposal. The younger sister, who was engaged to a middle-class cousin couldn't bear it from the first day. Lusting for wealth, she attempts to trap her brother-in-law, who is a composed, decent man. She forces him to divorce her sister and marry her and claims to fall in love with him. While resisting her sister-in-law approach, the guy seemed to pull towards her at the end.

The content of the drama serial Jalan was criticized as it affected the respectable relations in any family, according to netizens.

On finding many complaints against the drama content, the broadcasting of Jalan is banned after 13 episodes.

The lead cast of the drama is Minal Khan, Areeba Habib, and Imad Irfani.
