Boycott Cannoli owners Apologised for mocking the manager for not speaking English

 

After garnering outrage on social media, the owners of the Islamabad restaurant, Cannoli by Cafe Soul, have dealt an apology statement on Instagram. In response to the public outrage over a video that went viral on social media, the cannoli restaurants cleared their stance.

The video indicated that cannoli cafe,  Islamabad two female owners Uzma & Diya mocking the restaurant manager Awais for lacking in English language skills. They called and asked (while speaking fluent English), the manager to speak one sentence in English. When he couldn't speak inflow,  they mocked his English speaking against the salary he collects from owners.  The video was shared on the cafe's Instagram but removed after receiving anger. 



Meanwhile, a follower uploaded a video on Twitter. The mocking video top-ranked with #boycottcannoli in few hours.

Now the cannoli owners shared their apology on Instagram.

The owners explained they are "saddened" and "appalled" over the reaction the video gathered.

"We are saddened and appalled by the reaction of the people, how they have misconstrued our banter with a team member,".

The owners said that their conversation in the video was just "gup shup" between a team. They never intended to come across as "hurtful".

Being apologetic they explained that

"If anyone was hurt or offended apologizes, however, that was never our intention,".

" The owners are not required to prove anything or defend themselves as kind employers. Our team has been with us for a decade, that should speak for itself," cannoli owners added.

"We are proud Pakistanis who love our language and our culture," the cannoli owners concluded.
