POLICY GUIDELINES FOR MATHEMATICS PAPER CLASS 10

Paper Pattern and Distribution of Marks Mathematics & General Mathematics SSC-II

The Math question paper is arranged into following three sections, namely: "Section A, B & C": Questions may be text based or derived/unseen but difficulty level will remain same as per the lessons taught in the course in class.

Distribution of the questions with respect to cognitive domain within each section shall remain around as 30 percent Knowledge (K), 50 percent Understanding (U) and 20 percent Application (A).

Also the questions should be appropriately designed.  There should be consideration the time for thought-process and the length of the subsequent text to be produced by the candidates.

SECTION — A

This section of Math paper consists of question number one with 15 compulsory structured part questions - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of one mark each. These MCQs should preferably be put in such a way that they cover the whole course taught. These MCQs should objectively test the understanding and learning of the concepts of the candidates in Math.

 SECTION — B

This section of Math paper according to new changes consists of question number two (02) with preferably 14 part questions. Now section B of Math paper will comprise short Q/A and short theorems as well. These will be Short Response Questions (SRQs) of Four (04) marks each. The candidates are required to attempt (respond to) any Nine (09) SRQs out of 11 parts. The total marks of this section are 36 marks.

 SECTION — C

This section consists of Five (05) Extended or long Response Question (ERQs). From now the section D of math paper will comprise long Q/A with longer theorems and longer geometrical concept based questions from Math book. Candidates are required to attempt (respond to) any Three (03) out of FIVE of these ERQs as per their choice and convenience. These questions may comprise further two or more part questions each. Here these part questions shall be of less than 04 marks and again from longer concepts.

Earlier Section B was fixed for Q/A to solve analytically from book and section C was fixed for theorems and questions from their exercises. After listening to the concerns of teachers and students, fbise new Math paper pattern balance the questions and their due weightage.
