Here are vaccines which are approved for use in Pakistan. Pakistan has acquired Sinopharm vaccine from China and also Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine reached Pakistan through WHO COVAX program.
- Corona vaccine used for health workers: Sinopharm: A Chinese vaccine. It'll have two doses with a break of 21 days.
- Corona vaccine is expected to use for old age 60+ : Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine
- Sputnik V- A Russian developed vaccine
- Recombinant novel corona vaccine by Cansino Bio- Another Chinese vaccine is at last phase of trial to be used in Pakistan
- Why Pakistan not using/getting Pfizer vaccine?
Pfizer is a vaccine that is being used in America and many Eurpeon countries. According to experts, Pfizer vaccine requires -80 C to store which is not possible in developing countries. A required temperature can be missed from transportation to storage.
Also the average temperature of Pakistan is 40 degrees in summers and it is almost impossible to store Pfizer vaccine safe until second dose at such lower temperature.
- Side Effects of Corona vaccine in Pakistan
At start, there was speculation about using Chinese vaccine in Pakistan. Many health workers were reluctant getting the vaccine. Apparently not much side effects or reaction from corona vaccine has been observed in Pakistan till date. Around 1.5 million health workers and thousands of senior citizens have received free corona vaccine from hospitals of Pakistan by mid of March.
Here is my experience og getting corona vaccine in Pakistan. It was Sinopharm vaccine.I & husband got Corona Vaccination from General Hospital, Lahore on Feb, Sunday. The atmosphere and staff was very cooperative. We got vaccinated in no time as there was no crowd because of holiday. Then, we were asked to wait 10 minutes at side so that any reaction or corona vaccine side effect could be observed. It was normal at the time, we stayed there. Although there was a feeling of heavy head when we moved to car.
I felt fatigue, heavy head and weakness after getting corona vaccine for two-three days while my husband was OK after resting a day.
We didn't feel any fever afterwards neither vaccine staff recommended us for any panadol etc.
We received a message for second dose of corona vaccine right after 15 days of first corona vaccine dose. It was scheduled one week later with a break of 21 days.
Should We stop wearing Masks after getting Corona vaccine?
The first relief that come to my mind after getting corona vaccine was that I would get rid of face mask and hurdle of social distancing.
To my disappointment, mask won't disappear after receiving corona vaccine. Dr Faisal Sultan, Federal Health Minister explains that Corona vaccine started to produce antibodies after 14 days of getting vaccine. Also all vaccines are 70%-80% effective and we shouldn't take risk of meeting the rest 20%-30%.
Corona Vaccinated individual can be Asymptomatic, so it's advisable to continue face mask and social distancing until more people get vaccine.

- . Try to wear loose sleeves cloth while vaccination as it is injected close to shoulder.
- . Some hospitals provide vaccine on Sunday and some not. Please check before visiting on Sunday even the hospital is mentioned in message.
- . In case of two doses of vaccine wait for another sms which will be there within 21 days.

1. All Health workers i. e doctors, nurses, paramedic staff or even admin staff of private & public hospitals.Also it is observed that families of health workers are getting vaccination too.

1. For non medical persons age above 60 years: Message your ID card number on 1166. Or go to nims. nadra. gov. pk
and add your ID card number, date and telephone number and Click 'Andraj'.

2. Wait for registration sms from 1166 and verification code.
3. Sms your ID card on 1166 to know date & your center where you can get vaccination.
4. You'll notified within 24 hours with PIN code and dates otherwise call 1166 help center or retry on nims website.
5. Reach at prescribed center on given date.
6. Vaccination staff will verify your detail and pin code and you'll get vaccination.

It is mandatory to bring ID card while visiting vaccination centre's.

- There is no fee to get registered, verified or vaccinated for covid 19 in Pakistan.
- The covid 19 vaccination is being provided free of cost from government of Pakistan.
