The Federal board will conduct two annual exams per year SSC & HSSC| Board Exam For 8th class

Federal board will take two annual exam per year

The board of Governors (BoG) of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has approved a new policy about exams. As per the new policy under there will be two exams of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) from next year.

The first annual exams will now be held in May and the second will be held in September. Traditional supplementary exams held every year will be finished from the next year 2022. In fact, they will change into a complete exam where any student can appear when he/she is well prepared.

The students and schools will be eligible to enroll in any of the exams.
Earlier only students with compartments in any subject could appear in supplementary. The regular students couldn't sit in the exams but from now regular students can also sit in the September exam.

Board Exams At Grade 8 Level

Another breaking news for the parents, teachers, and students is that FBISE would conduct annual exams of Class 8 for the first time. It means that students will be giving board exam in class 8th which was earlier taken by the school administration. All papers, checking and the result will be done by the federal board. The policy will be followed by 2022.

According to a press release of FBISE, the purpose of two annual exams will provide unlimited chances to students who fail in some papers to clear them and save precious time.

FBISE which is ISO Certified organization is known for its quality measures to provide high-class education to students. Keeping the pace of introducing up to date changes in the syllabus,
the BoG also decided to introduce more combinations of subjects at the SSC and HSSC levels.

From next year students will be able to take Biology with Mathematics or Economics, Environmental Studies with Chemistry, etc. An introduction of new subjects and combinations will definitely relieve the students to choose the combination of their interests.

There will be a mix and match policy that would help in preparing new programs such as mechatronics and bio-informatics.

This policy will make FBISE consistent with international practices. It reveals that how much FBISE serious about its vision.

FBISE board of governors also approved relative marking in the exams to make checking more dynamic and flexible compared to absolute marking. The baseline is set by highest and lowest scores.

In the system of absolute grading, a traditional grading system of Pakistan, a student's score on a paper directly converts from total marks. It is like 10/10 is A+; 9/10 is A, etc. However, relative grading means students' marks vary depending on how they did compare to others in the class. As if more students get grades between 80 and 90 instead of 100 then all other students' marks will be judged On that scale.

The purpose of conducting a board exam at the grade 8 level is to guide the students towards education pathways.

The exam will be competency-based in Grade 8. It is to guide students towards education pathways. In these examinations, only key subjects/skills will be tested. FBISE shall split subjects for external exams over two years for Matric in class 9 & class 10. Students will be able to give an exam of few subjects in one year and remaining at next year. The same will apply for Intermediate Grade 11 & Grade 12. It is just like students of Cambridge give exam of Urdu, Pak Studies and Geography, etc at O1 and papers of Science subjects in O2. This would help reduce the burden on students. They could choose the subjects to appear in the first year and second year of the exams. The board will issue certificates for classes 10 and 12 only when students will be passed.

Papers' frame setting will align with the curriculum, instead of testing for rote learning.
