The most awaiting fully-funded United States based scholarship program for the Youth of Pakistan YES 2022-2023 is open for submission of online application till 15th September 2021.
Every year many talented students from secondary schools of Pakistan with age between 15-17 years get a chance to study in the high schools of United States for one academic year through Yes scholarships. The young students reside in the United States with fully trained host families and learn about American culture and American study approach style. The students of class 9 class 10 and O levels can apply for the program. It will be a landmark in students CV and also raise chance of getting any scholarship for higher studies in future.
Yes program is fully funded scholarship that covers round-trip airfare from Pakistan to the United States, the cost of a Pre-Departure Orientation, placement with a U.S. host family for 10 to 11 months, a modest monthly stipend, health insurance and the cost of program activities and materials. However, parents have to bear passport dues, immunization charges or any extra pocket money they want to provide to their children.
The YES program is officially launched in 2003. The program is manged by Pakistan society of international education and US embassy, public affair office.
The best part of Yes scholarship program is that it is truly merit based and prefers the students from unprivilged class or students studying in government schools, the female students and the students with any physical disability.
Yes scholarship program has multiple selection rounds where the students are scrunized, shortlisted and selected for the program. Applying for the Yes scholarship program starts from submission of Online Preliminary Application on Yes Pakistan website along with all required documents. The last date of submission of application for Yes 2022_23 program is 15th September 2021. Once the application is submitted then an Online Interview is conducted for eligible and short listed students. The time is informed through emails. Once the student is able to satisfy the interview members then the STEP-3 is to indulge in Proctored Essays, Group Activity and In-person Interview held by Yes program organizers in Pakistan. After passing the step 3 the next step is to give English profeciancy test
called ELTiS.
The students who have passed all 4 steps of Yes program selection round, now have to face the
STEP-5 and last round called Final Evaluation.
The final evaluation will be an overview of all 4 steps and the team will list the successful candidate on website and direct inform the students.
It is not end here but Yes organizers will arrange pre departure orientation and guide students about admissions and flight details. The students will get admissions in different high schools in different states of United States for one year. The students will reach to host families in United States, and join their fellows in prescribed high school. You want to apply for Yes American youth exchange program then here is an eligibility criteria. Remember that any false information at any stage can disqualify you for the program.
Be between the ages of 15-17 by the start of program (August 15, 2022);
Be enrolled in a secondary school in Pakistan, and be in 9th or 10th grade or 'O' Levels at the time of application. (Note for O’ Level Students: Only O’ Level 9th grade or O’ Level 10th grade students are eligible to apply. O’ Level 11th graders are not eligible);
Have earned minimum marks of 60% in all major/core subjects (English, Mathematics, Sciences) in the last class attended without any failing grades, and have an overall minimum average marks of 60% in past three years (2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years). Students who were promoted without taking annual examinations in 2019-20 academic year due to COVID-19, need to obtain subject wise performance document from their school. The document must be stamped and signed by an authorized school official. If they had any class test mark sheet (transcript) of 2019-20, they must also attach it when filling out online application;
Students with a gap year or a repeated year are ineligible;
Be able to communicate in English. Applicants must have earned minimum 60% marks in English in past three years (2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years);
Meet U.S. J-1 visa eligibility requirements (for instance, U.S. citizens are not eligible for J-1 visa);
Be a citizen of Pakistan and reside in Pakistan;
Must not have traveled to the United States.
Note: Applicants must earn minimum marks of 60% in all subjects on the examination (the annual exams that will be held in 2022) that will be held prior to departure to the U.S. Students will be required to send their mark sheets from the last examination.
Students with Disabilities can also join Yes program. The Department of State and the YES program work with Mobility International (MIUSA) to provide students with disabilities leadership-building workshops, appropriate information and support as needed.
