IKLC- International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest (IKLC) is an internal character contest. It is like popular International Kangaroo Mathematics test IKMC.  It is organized in four languages English, French, Spanish and German. As English is the most spoken and understood language around the world that why IKLC English grabbed more attention and now 10 countries are the member where IKLC conducts contest each year. The 10 IKLC member countries in 2021 are:  Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Romania, Ukraine, Cyprus, Italy, Pakistan, Russia, Belarus, & Georgia,

IKLC is the combination of the linguistic pedagogical experience from a number of countries with creativity goals. IKLC innovative questioning enhances student’s interest towards English and improves positive communication culture around the world. By participating in IKLC, students’ grammar, spoken, reading and linguistic skills improve to international level. The students then can easily pass national & international scholarship, entrance and job tests. The Contest consists of Multiple Choice Questionnaire MCQs of twenty four to thirty questions, depending upon the level (grade) of the student. For each question a choice of five answers is provided.

The Contest contents are covered in the English Curriculum. Use of mobile phone or any other electronic device is not permitted. A point is deducted or there is penalty for each incorrect answer. There is no deduction for unanswered question. To avoid negative scores, students must answer where they are sure. An individual participation is not possible in IKLC. Participants can only register from their schools. However, they can self practice IKLC past papers to improve their skills. Schools can register for IKLC without any fees and encourage the students to participate with a registration fee.

Each year, several International Summer Camps are organized for national winners of the Contest. The locations, dates, duration, age of participants and availability vary from year to year.

From here you can download IKLC Sample Papers & Past Papers. Students must practice from Past Papers to get high scores in the contest. The IKLC Papers are designed internationally and checked and marked nationally. Prizes and certificates are distributed to winners. The IKLC contest is held in schools who register their students in IKLC.

The IKLC paper Grade 3-4 students has three sections.

Ecolier Level (Class III & IV)

1.       The duration of the competition is 60 minutes.

2.       24 questions to answer: eight – 3 points each, eight- 4 points each and eight- 5 points each.

3.       Scope of questions:

         Word and Structure Knowledge: adverbs, prepositions, pronouns (possessive, demonstrative, etc.), simple tenses, irregular verbs, modals (of ability and permission, etc.), basic questions, etc. collocations, spellings, words related to household things, clothes, basic emotions, food, animals and pets, etc

         Reading: search for and retrieve information from various text types like stories, anecdotes, etc. understand information through pictures, time-table format, etc., acquire broad understanding of and look for specific information in short texts like messages, invitations, etc.

         Spoken and Written Expression: ability to understand situation-based variations in functions like apology, greeting, introduction, request, etc.
