How to explain children about inappropriate scenes at cartoons and youtube videos

 It's hard to check what children are suckling from YouTube children videos most of time and also Mickey Mouse, Tom and Jerry, Mr. Bean, Oggy and cockroaches… there is a list of Disney cartoons full of scenes with kisses and hugs at cartoon channels on TV.  Almost all princess movies end at kissing scenes.This 24/7 accesses to contemptible content profoundly in absence of proper guidance from parents’ poor influence the young minds. Fragile and inquisitive minds started to accept the wrong as right in time. A little girl might wish to wear Mini skirt at her party or a little boy may expect a kiss in return of any favor. 

No matter its being mother of boy or a girl, the responsibility of parents is more to explain them the boundaries, our children have to abide being Muslim.

The time has gone with the wind when only one hour was fixed for the cartoon time. In that short time, cartoons were telecasted after proper censor on national TV. It was the time when children smiled meaningfully when two fluttering roses or a beach with cluttering waves over wrapped the screen when Mickey Mouse brought flowers for Minnie. Children at that time also had curiosity and questions of adult content. Their first and last encyclopedia was their mother who satisfied their flickering queries and children meant it the last word and this pace still exist, only need the parents who can meet the challenge like old time "strict" parents.

Here are ways how can we guide our children.

1. WATCH WITH YOUR CHILD

   Its advisable to take out some time to watch the cartoon series, movie or any video game with the kids to know about the content. You best know your child and can guess the things which your child can handle at the age. If you find some inappropriate stuff then clearly told the kids that they're not allowed to watch certain video or programme. Turn off the TV at time/block or delete the video game. Keep on monitoring as apparently little gestures can also spoil your kids study concentration...your training...and above all his/her social and religious values.     

2. CHANGE THE CHANNEL AT ONCE, BLOCK THE YOUTUBE VIDEO

Obviously you can't block all cartoons or youtube videos so when your children are upon some and whenever you sensed that children are about to spot any inappropriate scenes then hold the remote and change the channel at once. Children will turn and scream on you for breaking the spell of that cartoon. Tell them to wait and tune back the channel when you feel that inappropriate scene would be passed. Give remote to eldest one, tell the reason calm and ask him to change the channel if the same happens again. As nature of human, children would attempt to watch at your absence what you stopped them to spot but with some guilty feeling that this all is wrong. This practice have affect that after time, your child will change the channel himself/herself.

         If you come across the same at any youtube video that your children is playing dirty dress up game, little boys and girls showing intimacy or racing car game with weird characters then at once confiscate the mobile and block/remove the video. Again the response from your child will be crying, yelling and screaming but you’ve to tell him/her that the reason of blocking the video. The curious mind of your kid will definitely fixed somewhere when he/she will be able to filter the videos and one day he/she would feel irritated of such videos.

 I'm mother but let me tell you one thing the above method is strictly followed by my husband actually. Children more take actions serious if it's done by fathers...so dads buckle up. 

3. EXPLAIN HIM/HER THE BOUNDARIES OF BEING MUSLIM

Unfortunately, we all want to be modern, more modern than English. We feel content when our children gaze at English cartoons, videos or movies that they’re learning English. Asides as parents, it’s our duty to tell them what our religion tells us about relationship and a distance, anyone should have to the opposite gender. Explain your girl that our religion don’t allow the girls to roam out alone or to wear short dress and ask your boys to protect their eyes and actions at times. Your child will not like any interference or lecture during watching his cartoons but you keep on telling him at spot. He may not show but any human have sensors of right and wrong since childhood and you need to keep on hitting and feeding that censor.

4. USE HYBRID TERMS

Little children usually ask about short dresses in the videos. It may look mockery or impractical but it really works when you tell the children that the character has wore a skin color dress at parts of body which are appearing nude as it's not acceptable at our society to wear short such as belly button, small blouse or for Minnie skirts or a hero with naked upper part. His mind would scroll and will take time to accept but especially young kids get satisfied with answers.

5. ACT BEFORE ADVICE: BE A MENTOR

Children always observe and follow the parents. If a little boy observes his father watching song channels with weird actions all time and mother doesn’t change the channel when hero consoles the heroin by holding her hand in dramas then surely he/she thinks of contradiction of its parents lectures. He/she found justification for continuing the stuff even with culpable sentiment. So as parents first it’s you, who have to sacrifice their media preferences.   

6. JOINT FAMILY MANIA DEALING

One mother told me that by living in joint family, it’s hard for me to control what my children can spot on TV and also my husband doesn’t take interest in keeping check, what children are watching or playing at mobiles. My little one always remain curious about why the boy is hugging the girl or Donald duck always sprinkle hearts at screen at end then once I almost irritate told him, ‘the characters are siblings actually. They live like brothers and sisters.’ To my dismay, now my little one believes that all cartoon characters are siblings. For his very young mind this feeling is so profound in my opinion.
