10 ways to get rid of lice-no need to shave head- fusionstories

Lice can attack and invade the hairs of all family members, once they entered through a single person/child at home. Close head to head contact, using of same comb/hairbrush, sharing the same pillow, let this tiny, irritating beast to crawl from one prey to another. School children are mostly career of lice at home and it's really difficult to keep little heads clean of itching and lice with the busy routine. Once a louse makes its way to any head, then it lays 4-5 eggs a day which is called nits (Likhain) tightly stick to hairs and hatch in 7-8 days. Every new lay eggs again and this vicious circle keeps on if not halted in time. 
Lice feed on human blood which these suck from the skin of the head and this causes severe itching just as a mosquito bite. The ultimate solution hit the minds while severe itching is to shave the head mean to have “TEEND” or shaving the hair...to get rid of this monster. No way…    

Lice lives and feed near the scalp of the head, so teend or shaving can timely soothe anyone from lice but very little hairs again compel the lice. So we’ll start the ways, how to get rid of lice permanently by traditional methods and will then jump to modern ones.

• MANUAL way to get rid of lice

In the past, ladies sit at lines and pick lice and nits manually. It was time-consuming task but still it is taken as most effective method but nowadays, no ladies have enough time to use this method.

• Mustard oil (sarson ka tail)

A very old, traditional and effective method used in all parts of the subcontinent is the use of mustard oil. Massage with excessive mustard oil and use fine-tooth comb to find out lice. Sticky or greasy materials stop the movement of lice so they can easily be trapped and be killed. By this method nits (likhain) can also be slipped out.

• MAYONNAISE 

 It'll not look appropriate to scratch heads while enjoying burger or sandwich so put some mayonnaise at heads thoroughly and comb the hairs. Lice and nits will slip out to clean and hair will also be shiny with the  protein of eggs in mayonnaise. Two in one-lice clean up with protein treatment but it is little messy or can be smelly for children especially.

• LAVENDER, COCONUT OIL

 Other greasy products are such as lavender oil, coconut oil are also recommended and used to treat lice across the world. This method needs to repeat twice a week to clear the head from lice. Oiling your hair nourishes its growth and also it heels any scratch at the skin.

•  Wet hairs

If nothing above or time is available then Lice and nits can be taken out by regularly combing at wet hair. Remaining soap or shampoo in hairs makes it difficult for lice to run from fine tooth-comb (Barik kangi). This method should be used twice in a week as combing the wet hairs weaken the hair roots.

• Vinegar

Mix three spoon any vinegar(apple cider vinegar is more recommended) with one spoon water and gently massage on the hair scalp, let it dry and use lice- comb to the hairs. Vinegar is effective to kill or slow down lice to get into a trap. Vinegar is used to give shine to hairs. This method is also good but excessive use of vinegar is not good for skin of the head or if it touches the neck etc.

All home remedies are done but lice are still making parties at family's heads then jump to modern, less time consuming and more effective methods.

• HAIR DRYER

It needs some moisture at the scalp to nourish the lice so dry the roots of hairs, using the hair dryer at speed. The heat from the dryer will kill lice and also nits will be dried out. Once the nits will dry out then no more reproduction will be possible. This method is effective if used rarely. It is not good for the health of the hairs. Dry hair root means weak and ultimately broken hairs. Once in a week is enough for this method to get rid of lice.

• A Skin specialist or doctor

Yes, pl. doesn’t shy discussing your doctor or skin specialist about lice in the hairs and ask him to recommend anti-lice cream such as “crotan” “lice-o-nil” according to your skin type. Massage the anti-lice cream at the head. Wait for the night and comb the hairs to get rid of lice.

• Anti-lice shampoo

There are many anti-lice shampoo available at markets such as “doctor anti-lice” or “guard anti-lice” "English" etc. These shampoos work very well when after using shampoo; a fine tooth comb is done in the wet hairs. A few side effect of these shampoos is rumored but using the shampoo is convenient for all family members e.g. kids, men or women. So go and grab any good anti-lice shampoo and keep it permanent at your washroom shelf.

• PRECAUTIONS:

1.  

     1. All of above methods work well only when all family members apply it at same time so that no one could be career again. Fix one or two days a week, all members clean their heads at the same time using anti lice cream or shampoo.

   2. Soak the fine-tooth comb (barik kangi) or other hair brush of home at boiling water for at least 5 minutes once in a week to clear it from any nits.

    3. Regularly wash or change pillow covers, towels and shawls, so no one has a chance to get it from there. 

    4.  Lice cannot fly or jump, they mostly shift from head to head contact, so advice your children to keep a distance from their friends.

  5.  Ask your girls to tie your hair proper. Un tied hairs chance to get lice is 90% more than of tie ones.

  6. Keep separate combs, towels, and pillows for kids other than of father and elders at family and clean them regular.    

7. Use white towels, sheets or stuff at the back while combing so that if any lice skip from comb can instantly spot to eyes. Lice can live only 24 hours without its host but if any lice fall at pillow or shirt while combing then it can crawl back to head. Secondly, the self comb should be done by standing at the basin to avoid hair mess all around and to spot any lice or nit at the basin surface.
