‘No one is here to listen to me
There is no use of praying
I must give up asking anymore…,’
The distress mounts when we gaze at equals around us are blessed with everything in time, even before they ask for it.
‘I just wish, this vegetable curry for dinner transforms into a delicious Chicken roast,’
‘May the teacher’s car hit by an electric pole while coming to school, so the class test can be canceled,’
‘I wish that the government announce lifetime paid vacations….’
Many innocent wishes are tagged in everyone's wish list since childhood and no one has any idea when these innocent wishes turn into reverent prayers towards immortal God.
Wishing is just a desire, a longing or a hope towards God for happening of something supernatural whereas Prayer is more practical; a direct communication towards divine creator for asking of His assistance in the everyday chaos of this harsh life. A habit of wishing ultimately led to prayers.
‘Make a wish…make a wish…,’childhood thrills of blowing stray eyelashes or flying up dandelions modify to grave pleading with time. We all thoroughly believe in the presence of someone who is always around to listen to us. We don’t have to make an appointment or need to meet certain formalities before calling for our petitions in His court. We pray for many things at any time, from anywhere since childhood but when life turns more practical, tougher and more apparent then our prayers leap too. Our prayers become more focused and stubborn following the grumbling and complaining attitude if we fail to meet our demands overlooking the blessing which pulled towards us unnoticeable.
'I cried, sighed and prayed a lot but couldn’t get admission to that university. No miracle happened with scholarship program too.’ A young boy grumbles but forgets to mention, when he got a government job even with an inferior degree.
'I prayed a lot to marry my cousin, but he married my sister instead of me…why?’ A beautiful girl lost her faith at the time but now she forgets to say gratitude for her loving husband and blessed home.
‘I prayed, though I couldn’t grab my dream job.’ A middle-aged man doesn’t seem content with his income and overlooks that his dream job could demand tougher from him.
‘Why God doesn’t grant me a son?’ strong women fall to knees and sighs after having consecutive baby girls. She doesn’t have an idea of how few couples are mourning for babies and how many are fighting with sick children.
We all go depressed and disappointed on the failure of our prayers and overlook the insight of our creator. We observe the child crying to hold a knife desperately and mother trying to trick him with something safer. With time, many of us meet the situations when we spontaneously thank God for granting us a better alternate. We reach at the time when we see back and understand how much God was kind towards us to keep our prayer for the right time. You can’t discount the folks who get terrified sometimes and scream, ‘OMG, how fool I was? What rubbish I was demanding for in the past? If…then…,’ they feel a bump.
We claim that the mother is the one who loves most her child, then why she is not providing her kid, what he/she demands? Like an innocent child is unaware of the hassles, he/she may face after holding a knife, we also don’t know the negatives of our demands or what is a better choice for us. A child while complaining about her mother’s out of the way strictness and control fail to notice the fresh meals, ironed clothes, his clean room and much more what his mother is doing for him for long. Similarly, we overlook our health, our daily come up from accidental situations, our parents, friends, food, clothes, and many more blessings just for one unrated prayer.
I know how much sweet the above justification would be, but still many of us don’t get convinced and want our demands to meet early and even seem ready to meet any tragedy wrapping with their gifted pray. Then God also tells the solution:
· He told us to perform well with others
- To take care of the parents as Allah listens to their prayers
- To give charity
- To ask our pleas in His prescribed timings where He promised not to turn back we emptied.
Yes, our loved ones, our good deeds, and our charity weigh up the prayers.
Still not convinced as you have tried all the above means and still feel barehanded. Then why not look around to seek any other mere reason. May our planned or unplanned harsh shot hurt someone and bring our prayers to a standstill. May we bluff nature’s principles somewhere? God wants us to ask for forgiveness.
Do a lot of “Astaghfar” to seek His forgiveness and mercy.
You tried it too, but still, you’re not filled. Again it’s not the time for disappointment, its test from Allah and He chooses His best humans for His tests so that he can grant him more rewards in enduring life.
What can you make strong to meet His tests is just a habit of Thankfulness.
Believe me, once you say loud:
‘Thank you, Allah, for everything you gave me or not
A feeling of contentment you feel will be enduring.’
Last but not least, no one can brawl with fate. Nothing can be achieved before right time. No one is without tests in this life, not even those to whom we look for. Giving up the prayers is not the way out. God is still with you, blessing you with what you don’t notice and protecting you from what you don’t deserve. Allah doesn’t owe anyone’s effort and asking. Allah has deposited all your prayers and will return you with profit in this life or life hereafter.
