Federal education minister Shafqat cleared the air and Mehmood announced about the fortune of board students. During a press conference on 14th May 2020, the Federal education minister notified the way to promote the board students.
As earlier Shafqat Mehmood made it clear through a tweet that due to COV 19 panedemic and school closures, all board exams are canceled from Sindh, Punjab, KPK, Baluchistan and there should not be any confusion about it. The real problem was to prepare the proper and justified way to promote the students. After a meeting with all board members and education minister of all provinces, Shafqat Mehmood announced that there are categories of students to mark them which as follow:
All students of class 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th are promoted to the next classes.
Result of 10th and 12th
As there is a popular tendency that earned a number of class 10th are better than class 9th and marks of 12th are better than 11th class that why students of class 10th and 12th(2nd year) will get 3% more marks from their 9th and 11th grades.
Predicted statistical formula to calculate of marks of 10th 12th students
For example, a student gets 405 marks out of 550 in class 9th or first-year then

Predicted statistical formula to calculate of marks of 10th 12th students
For example, a student gets 405 marks out of 550 in class 9th or first-year then
he/she can calculate his/her marks for
10th or 12th as
3/100*405=12.5 + 405= 417.5
Transcript or mark sheet of 10th and 12th will not be delivered subject wise marks but there will only be only total marks on the transcript of 12th and 10th grade.
Boards will notify on transcripts that this is the best possible prediction of students' results without giving an exam due to COVID 19 exam cancelation.
Good news for Private students from class 10th and 12th will get marks based on their 9th and 11th result plus 3% more marks added in it respectively like regular students.
Result of 9th 1st-year board students
- Students of class 9th and 11th will be promoted to 10th and 12th grades without exams but hold on their 9th class result will be calculated next year based on their 10th or 12th class result. Shafqat Mehmood made it clear that there will be not composite exam next year for promoted 9th and first-year students.
Supply students
As far as Mehmood press conference suggested that
- If any students could get only 40% marks in the 9th or first-year result or were failed he/she will be given 40% passing marks in the 2nd and 10th without giving any grade.
It means students with supply in the 9th and the first year will be promoted giving 40% marks.
The students who want to give a special exam for example
1. The students who were not satisfied with their 9th or 11th result and want to appear in improvement exam
2. The students who got less than 40% marks in their exam.
3. The students who want to appear in 2 or 3 subjects separately
notify their boards until 1st July 2020.
There are about 29 educational boards that have decided special exams for the above category.
- There will be a special exam from September till November for the students who want to appear for the improvement exam. The students who were giving composite exams will also conduct in the special exam from 2020.

Shafqat Mehmood thanked all education boards and provincial education ministers to reach a unanimous decision about promoting the board students.
The following points are the exam future of University and Cambridge students which were not discussed in the press conferences but are trending on media.
- University exams are not canceled in Pakistan, as HEC will decide the fortune of University students.
It means students with supply in the 9th and the first year will be promoted giving 40% marks.
The students who want to give a special exam for example

As Education Minister, Shafqat Mehmood tweeted that all the board exams have been canceled and students will be promoted in the next classes. What will be the criteria to grade the board students? What type of mark sheets and documents board students will get from their institutes to get admission in the next classes after the cancelation of exams? According to the sources, the following criteria will be followed to promote board and other students to get passed in the new class.
As per the situation proceeds the new session will begin in August 2020.
Class 9th students board exam promotion criteria
Students of class 9th will be promoted to class 10. class 9th syllabus will be added in next year's class 10 exam to mark the capabilities of students.
Promotion criteria of class 10 students after the cancellation of board exams
Class 10 students will be graded and promoted on the basis of their class 9th result plus 3% more marks in it.
Class first-year students grading and promotion criteria after board exam canceled
After the cancelation of the board exam, First-year is promoted without exams. the first-year syllabus is will enter next year's exams.
Promotion criteria for 2nd-year students
The students from class 1 to class 8th will be promoted in the next class too, where the annual papers couldn't conduct due to corona lockdown as in parts of Sindh and Punjab.

UNIVERSITY EXAMS ARE NOT CANCELED
The exams of universities are not canceled. University students will have to wait for notification from HEC. According to a tweet from Punjab University, the University of Punjab is waiting for the decision of the Higher education commission. Hence no University exam has been canceled. The University exam of the Bachelor and master program can be postponed but not canceled, according to sources.
Cambridge students, O level A level students promotion criteria
Cambridge students have already been given choice to give O level and A level exam in Oct/Nov session or apply for the grading system to get promoted. This grading will be done on school performance.
