What is an E-sheet, & On Screen marking
An E-sheet means a computer or electronic sheet is just like an ordinary sheet apparently, but it has a digital interface that is touch-sensitive and is networked. The E-sheet use in exams are ones like simple answer copies provided by Examiners earlier with a difference that now they will have specific space for each answer.
The use of E-sheet in exam help examiner marking the paper from the computer. Above is an image of paper opened in the laptop through the system. All necessary aid is provided to teachers on both sides of the paper for true evaluation.
By introducing an e sheet in the exam improves the evaluation process of candidates. E sheets are already in use for Cambridge exams. Also, the students who have been part of online classes and online exams during the Corona pandemic must solve papers on e sheet.
ESheet that is going to be used in exam 2021 subjects for SSC and HSSC exam:
- English compulsory
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Computer Science
How To use E sheet in exams?
As told above, E sheets are just like ordinary answer sheet but with fixed space for each question. There will be space for each question and its part. Students will leave space or cut it with pencil if they are leaving any part on choice.
First students will be provided an OMR sheet where students will fill in their roll number carefully by filling in circles. After solving objective paper on an OMR Bubble sheet and returning it to examiner, student will start subjective paper on E sheets.
For short questions, there will be a space accordingly. Students need to plan a brief answer that should finish within given space. Students should not exceed the answer nor should leave few lines blank.
For long questions, there may be 1 to 2 page space to write a complete answer.
In this way, every students' performance will not judged with the length of answer but with the solid data provided within the given space.
E sheet not be divided in sections but Q2 mean section B or (section B & C in science subjects) for short questions and Q3 mean is all questions from section C (or section D in science subject).
Here students are bit confused and urging fbise to start e sheet exam from next year. Many have requested not to conduct Math exam on e sheet.
According to Chaiman Fbise in e- katheri, extra sheets may be provided to students on demand.
What is Screen Marking?
This part is for educators and teachers telling them them the way to evaluate and mark the paper online . In on Screen Marking answer sheets, attempted by candidates in Centres, are scanned and marked by Examiners on Computer. The systems are made user friendly and convenient for examiners. An examiner shouldd have an internet connection and a gadet with camera. The question items shall be consigned to examiner through system. This means that teacher will not need to come to marking stations. All checking, marking and submission will be done through computer. On screen checking doesn't require computer expertise to check e papers. To check the paper from E sheet,
- Teacher needs a computer/mobile with camera
- Teacher will login to system
- She'llprovided the number of papers and roll numbers
- The teacher will be able to see the paper on the screen
- The teacher will be able to zoom, drag and turn the pages
- The teacher can tick or cross the answers on the screen
- She/he will mark numbers of each part while on-screen checking
- He/She'll submit checked paper online
The purpose of the adoption of Screen Marking is to tide over the involved risks of paper’s transportation and assessment of paper through a single examiner etc. One paper can be marked by 8-10 examiners. They will mark the respective portion. It reduces variance in marking. On-screen, marking ensures fair grading. It improves the prevailing assessment quality by deputing the well professionally qualified assessment staff from all over the country instead of particular areas which will eventually eliminate the possibilities of various tabulation errors.
Use of “E” Sheets for Biology and Computer Science subjects at HSSC Level for Annual examination 2019
In Annual Examination 2018 at the HSSC level, the FBISE had introduced Screen Marking in the subject of Computer Science. Students then attempted paper on “E” Sheets. On follow-up, in 2019 one more subject was added. Students of Computer Science and Biology attempted the subjective portion (Section B, C, and D) on the provided “E” Sheet for papers of both parts (HSSC-I & II).
“E” Sheet is an ordinary answer sheet/copy however it has been divided in such a way that each question shall be attempted on space provided/allocated for each question and its part. This space has been allocated for different questions keeping in view the maximum possible length for the response of each question. The candidates will attempt their questions in the allocated/provided space for each answer and not beyond the same.
Fbise has emphasized the Supervisory Staff and Examiners (Centre Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and Assessment Staff to be deputed, as well as the concerned students,s are advised to go through the instructions for proper comprehension and facilitation without any complication at the time of examination.
