OMR sheets are already used in Cambridge O/A level papers, the papers conducted for government or other jobs, and CSS exams.

It's good that government college students will also get familiar with OMR sheet usage.

What is the Optical Mark Recognition or OMR sheet?

OMR sheet is a way of marking answers usually MCQs on a separate sheet with bubbles(circles) on it. OMR sheet answers are readable on the computer.

Candidates fill in the right option circle with black/blue ball pen on the OMR sheet. The OMR sheets then collected by examiners and answers are scanned, checked & marked by computer.

In this way students can keep objective type paper with them which is collected back after solving in conventional MCQs paper.

Another benefit of OMR sheet is to avoid wrong checking caused by overwriting, cutting, or duplicate answers in conventional objective or MCQ type problems.

HOW TO USE OMR SHEET?

  • Using the OMR sheet is not at all tricky but simple.

  • Students will be provided with MCQs question sheet. Every MCQs will have. A/B/C/D option.

  • The student will also be provided witan h OMR sheet. It'll be a sheet with question numbers and rows of hollow bubbles(circles).

  • Usually fbise section A has 20 MCQs so there will be 20 rows of blank bubbles with four options.

  • Student will write name, subject, roll number and also fill in bubbles according to roll number and version number first.

Do's and Don'ts of using OMR sheet

  • Students must avoid half shadowing/filling, duplicate filling, cutting, ie bubbles.
  • The tick on the right bubble will also be rejected.

  • OMR scanner will reject the OMR answer if  student does not properly shadow or fill roll number, center code and paper code. Also double filling, or half shadowing will lead to rejecting the answer.

  • Students are allowed to use only black and blue ball points. The answers with lead pencils will be rejected.

  • If shadowing/filling of bubble is out then answer will be rejected too.
