SUMMARY

 

The poem noise is penned by the poetess “Jessie Pope”. The poetess is expressing the impact of World War I on human psychology. During wars, people start liking the noisy sounds as they are afraid of silence.  Noisy sounds break the silence and give a sign of being alive to many people. She also likes the noisy sounds coming from train, machines and traffic. Also the furious sounds from natural event like raining, thunder, and roaring of a river are her favorite. Noise is a sign of life in the time of fear and terror created due to war.
