Board exams are the final exams that are conducted by central educational boards in schools and colleges for class 9, class 10, class 11, and class 12. At many government schools, board exams are also conducted for class 5. The purpose of the commencement of a centralized board exam is to maintain transparency in the educational outcome of students.
As the exam paper is prepared and checked by the education
boards under strict secrecy, therefore, the students feel a lot of pressure while
striving for good grades. The students who appear in board exams put a lot of
effort into preparing the board exam papers to get good grades. From preparing for the
exam to attempt it, all steps need careful attention and practice. There are 32 educational boards in Pakistan.
One is in Islamabad: Federal Board, FBISE, 9 BISE Boards in Punjab, 6 BISE in
Sindh, 8 BISE in KPK, 3 BISE in Balochistan, and 1 education board is in Azad
Kashmir.
There are
certain guidelines to attempt board papers to get 90% and above marks. It is very important to write a correct answer but presentation of the answer also
works to grab higher grades. Have you ever thought, all the students revise
from the same notes, write correct answers from the same notes but some of them
get higher grades and other stays at average, why? Then the secret is these
smart students know to attempt a presentable paper that impresses the examiner.
To attempt an impressive paper is important in all education boards as FBISE,
Lahore board, Peshawar board, Quetta board, or Karachi board. All education
boards have almost the same patterns of paper that are objective and subjective
parts.
These are
the steps where you can attempt the best board paper to get a higher grade:
We’re
assuming that you’ve prepared your best for the board exam. You’ve practiced a
lot from the past papers. You know the paper pattern and are ready to strive
for 90% and above grade.
- REACH EXAMINATION CENTRE BEFORE TIME
The first
step to attempt the best board exam starts from the time, you reach the examination hall. Always try to reach the examination center at least half an
hour before. You’ll be able to discuss some important points with your classmates at that time. You may be able to go through the notes of your friend that
gives a better explanation of any concept. By reaching in time, you’ll be able to
enter the examination hall in time and settle down. An immense pressure of
paper can be little reduced if you have settled your stationery before the examiner
starts distributing examination sheets.
- WRITE YOUR NAME, ROLL NUMBER BEFORE THE PAPER IS DISTRIBUTED
As soon as,
you get your answer sheet, write your name, roll number, and all required
details on the answer sheets. Draw margin lines and get yourself ready for the
paper. Your mind gets diverted and the pressure of paper is relaxed while
students draw margin lines and write their names. It is observed that many students
keep on praying until they get question papers. They keep answer sheets at
sides in tension and start paper without writing their names and roll numbers.
So write your roll number and name first.
- READ THE PAPER AT LEAST TWICE
Here you get
your question paper in a short time, after the answer sheets. Please read the
complete question paper at least twice before you start it. Mostly objective-type question sheets are distributed first. You should keep in mind that in
case of duplicate answers, cutting, or overwriting, you’ll not get any marks for objective-type papers. Sometimes, concepts may be the same that leads you to mark
the answer in hurry. Before filling in the blank or ticking the right option
for MCQ, read it twice and then write. Many students mostly use lead pencils at the start to solve the MCQs and then use pens after they’re sure. You can also use
this strategy but please try to complete your objective paper in the given time.
- MARK THE QUESTIONS YOU KNOW THE BEST
Here is a
time, when you will get your subjective paper. It is a real test of your
preparation and skills. The subjective paper mostly makes 60% of the paper and it
is very important to get 100% out of it. Again read the subjective question
paper at least twice. Believe me, reading the question paper never wastes your
time but it helps you to draft your paper presentation at your best. Mark the
questions that you’re going to solve and the questions, you’re leaving one choice.
- TAKE A LONG BREATH AND START THE PAPER
Take a long
breath, say Bismillah, and start your first question.
- AVOID SPELLING AND GRAMMAR MISTAKES
Any spelling
and grammatical mistakes put a very bad effect on the examiner even it is not the
language paper. If you’ll do spelling and grammatical mistakes in Urdu or
English in Islamiyat, Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or even in
Mathematics paper, then you’ll not get good marks even if your answer is
correct. There are many questions, where you’re required to write the answer in
your own words instead of copying pasting it from a textbook.
A good
sentence structure is very important to deliver your point to the examiner. Remember,
there is tough competition in a board exam. Why an examiner will give you full
marks when many other students have presented the same answer with the right spellings
and good sentence structure.
- STARTING LINE SHOULD BE POWERFUL
Starting
line of your answers should be very powerful to give an impression to the examiner.
Start your answer in such a way that the examiner gets to know that you the best of
it. After the first line, you can simply write your complete answer. Wait! The remaining
answer should also be correct. Don’t put things from here and there.
- WRITE A COMPOSED ANSWER
Some
students try to give length to their answers by repeating the concepts and
lines. It doesn’t make sense and the examiner gets to know about your incompetence
in a short time. Only a brief and well in point answer can get good marks for
you. You can add one or two extra points to give length but don’t repeat the
same line in another way.
- WRITE HEADINGS
Headings
play a very important role to get an impressive impression on the examiner and
help you to get higher grades. Divide your answer under focused headings. You should
make your headings if it was not mentioned in your notes, guidebooks, or textbooks.
- USE A MARKER, HIGHLIGHTER, OR BOX TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANT POINTS
Always use
markers to highlight the headings. If you don’t have a marker, then must inbox
your important points and headings. If you come across the paper of any topper
student then you’ll be amazed to know that they make their answers appealing
and impressive by using markers for headings and they draw boxes around
important points. Some smart students highlight the important points within the
lines.
- KEEP AN EYE ON A CLOCK
Another
important factor to attempt the best board paper is a proper time distribution
for each question. You should know to manage the time in a way that you can
complete your paper in time and read it before submission. Keep an eye on the
clock while solving your paper. If one question is taking too much time then
leave some space for it and start the next question at once. Try to complete
that space at the end then. Never keep on indulging with one answer for long even
if it has more marks. This may get to lose your marks from the questions you
may have to leave at the end.
- LEAVE LONG AND TIME TAKING QUESTIONS FOR THE END
It is a good
practice to solve very long questions at the end. For example, many students
find it easy and comfortable to write essays, letters or to solve
comprehensions after solving the remaining paper. Here you’ll not be a fret about
time shortage. You’ll have enough time to think and write the answer.
- Draw labeled DIAGRAMS
Making
diagrams, flowcharts, maps is very important to get good grades in board
exams. A student who will show his answer with the help of a diagram, even it was
not asked, then he’ll get better marks than other students. A well-labeled
diagram in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics does magic to perk up your grades.
- DISCOURAGE THE CHEATERS TO STAY FOCUSED
To maintain
your concentration and focus is very important to attempt a good board paper.
You should discourage the classmates that annoy you for cheating during the
paper. You should simply ignore them or make any signal that can alert the invigilator
about the student who is disturbing you.
- DON'T ATTEMPT EXTRA QUESTIONS
- ALWAYS READ THE PAPER BEFORE SUBMISSION
I Hope, by
following the above points you can attempt the best board paper to get 90% and above
grades. If you want to add any other point then write it in the comments so that
other students can get the benefit.
