beginning.

that the child learns and practices various aspects of a
value being taught., another step in this regard is to seamlessly integrate the
teaching of basic moral values and mannerism in everyday
school life and home life, here are age wise activities and guide to inculcate mannerism

Basic
Good Manners
1. Use of courtesy words at right occasions (Please, Thank
you, May I? Sorry)
Say “please” whenever you ask for anything.
Say “thank you” whenever you are given anything.
Say “Please” whenever you request for anything.
Say “May I?” whenever you want to ask for permission.
Say “You are Welcome” whenever someone thanks you.
Say “Sorry” whenever you make a mistake.
2. Respond to people when they speak to you.
3. Do not interrupt; wait for others to finish speaking.
4. Cover your mouth when you cough, sneeze, or yawn.
5. Do not make fun of others or use bad language.
6. Knock (and wait for a response) before entering someone’s
house / room and even
the rooms of your siblings, parents and grandparents.
7. Help others whenever you can.
8. Share your things with others when they need it.
9. Keep yourself clean.
Take a shower daily.
Wash hands before and after eating your meals.
Wash hands after using the toilet.
Brush your teeth twice a day.
Trim your nails every Friday. Don’t bite your nails.
Comb your hair whenever it is unruly.
Try to keep your clothes clean while playing or doing some
chores.
10.Learn Table Manners
Wash hands before eating meals.
Sit up straight.
Say Bismillah before starting to eat your meals.
Don’t eat hurriedly. Chew with your mouth closed.
Don’t reach across the table. Instead, politely ask for
things to be passed to
you.
Don’t talk with the mouth full
Drink water slowly. Drinking water
Don’t leave food in the plate. Finish your food.
Say Alhamdulillah when you finish eating.
Wash your hands after eating.
Help your mother / other family members in cleaning up.
11.Use your right hand when eating something or giving /
receiving things.
12.Make dua before sleeping and after getting up. (Duas of
sleeping and waking up)
13.Respect elders and be nice to young ones. Don’t make fun
of others.
14.Cover your mouth while sneezing and coughing. Say
‘Alhamdullilah’ when you
sneeze and ‘Yarhamakullah’ when someone else sneezes.
15.Return things that you borrow from others. Thank the
person for being so kind.
16.Clean up after yourself. Help your family by keeping your
room, bathroom, and
general areas as tidy as possible
17.Be polite to people who help you. (house help, school
guards, aya ji, etc.)
18.Don’t lie. Always speak truth.
19.Be respectful to elders and teachers.
20.Share toys and books with others.
21.Be kind to animals and plants.
22.Limit your screen time. Don’t insist to use the smart
phone, tablet and watch TV
excessively.
23. Learn Manners for School
Stand up and greet when your teacher enters the classroom.
Listen to your teacher (and other adults).
Keep your hands to yourself. Don’t hit / hurt anyone.
Be kind to everyone, not just your friends.
Wait for your turn in the classroom and playground.
Make queue when you go to the canteen in recess time.
Say “excuse me” if you bump into someone.
Raise your hand before you speak.
Keep your area clean and organized. Tidy your sitting area
and don’t throw litter
on the floor. Use dustbin to throw the trash.
Don’t cause distractions in class.
Complete your homework on time.
Don’t mock others.
Wait for your turn while someone is talking. Let them
finish and then say what
you want. If it is urgent, start with Excuse Me.
24.Do not shout when speaking.
25.Never use abusive language. Don’t use bad words or call
names.
26.Stand up when an elder / teacher enters the room.
27.Ask for permission before taking something.
28.Having guests and being the guests:
Greet your guests while receiving them; shake
hands if they extend it to greet and show
respect to them.
Greet your host when you meet them; sit
respectfully, don’t take anything without
permission.
