Hefty difference of PUBLIC & PRIVATE MEDICAL COLLEGES FEES SEATS,MERIT, MDCAT, Lahore-fusionstories

There is a hefty difference in PUBLIC and PRIVATE MEDICAL COLLEGES fees of Punjab, Islamabad and other province here we'll tell you about public and private colleges of Lahore, their fees , seats and merit criteria.

Lahore is a historical city and a provincial Capital of Punjab, Pakistan which hospitable many students from Pakistan and abroad in its spacious Colleges and Universities. Other than traditional education, Lahore has many renowned and up to the mark Public and Private Medical Colleges and Universities that fabricate outstanding MBBS and BDS doctors every year. These medical colleges also provide hostel facilities for the students outside Lahore. Most of Public & Private medical colleges in Lahore are affiliated with PMDC and UHS (University of Health Sciences).
According to the policy of PMDC, an entry test result is mandatory along with above 70% HSSC marks to make merit and to get admission in any private or public medical college in Pakistan. These entry tests which are also referred as MDCAT are conducted through relative Universities like UHS, NUMS etc in different centers in Pakistan July and August every year. The forms of MDCAT can be manually attained from offices or downloaded from UHS, NUMS websites and submit after depositing fees Rs 3000/-.
A MBBS. Degree from any Public medical colleges’ is not only affordable in terms of fees but grabs more respect and confidence at the time of practical field as Public medical colleges amass cream of students by stopping their merits above 90% every year.  The students who can’t get admission in public medical colleges look towards private medical colleges for admissions. The merit of Private medical colleges falls between 70%-90%.  Private medical colleges and Universities are putting their utmost efforts to build competent doctors but they’re very expensive to afford by middle class even.  Here is a list of Public & Private medical colleges in Lahore.
First we’ll tell you the public medical colleges and Universities of Lahore that are affiliated with PMDC, HEC and UHS along with the number of total seats and expected merit for 2020-2021.

MERIT OF MEDICAL COLLEGES

Anyone can observe that about 1350 seats are available just in Lahore out of total 3400 seats in Punjab. The merit of public medical colleges is above 90% and private medical colleges are between 70%-90%. If a student attains above 1050 marks out of 1100 in HSSC and attains above 185 marks out of 200 in MDCAT entry test then he/she has fair chances to get admission in any of public medical college in Lahore & Pakistan.
The merit of Public colleges is too high. If any student is lucky to attain above 90% marks in HSSC or A-level then he/she may lack in entry test and similarly, sometimes a very good result of MDCAT entry test is not compatible with FSc, A-level Or SAT 2 marks of a candidate. Then many students fail to get admission in public medical colleges. A decade before, it was a dream to achieve the goal “to become a doctor” and we observed many young students to get depressed for not having any choice other than of public medical colleges, but the situation is different now.

Here is a list of Private colleges in Lahore.

  • CMH Lahore medical & Dental College

This private college is affiliated with NUMS and conduct entry test through NUMS.
Other Private medical colleges are which are affiliated with PMDC & HEC are:
  • Lahore medical and Dental College LMDC
  • Akhtar Saeed Medical and Dental College, Lahore
  • Avicenna Medical College, Lahore
  • Shalamar Medical and Dental College, Lahore
  • Fatima memorial Hospital, FMH Medicine & Dentistry, Lahore
  • University College of medical & dentistry UCMD
  • Rahbar Medical College
  • Central Park medical college, Lahore
  • Continental medical college

Private medical colleges are a sign of relief for those hard working candidates to fulfill their dream to become a doctor and they couldn’t get admission in Govt/public medical colleges. An entry test is must for private colleges too but merit is relatively low in Private medical colleges.

FEES OF PUBLIC & PRIVATE MEDICAL COLLEGES

The fees of public medical colleges are taken once in a year which mostly falls between 80,000pkr to 15,000pkr without hostel charges Unfortunately, Private medical colleges in Pakistan charge mounting fees that is barely affordable for many in middle class even. According to a survey, in 2019, the per year fees of private medical colleges in Lahore and Pakistan fall between 10 lakhs pkr to 15 lakhs pkr without hostel charges. The total expenses of private medical colleges in 4-5 year MBBS degree program, accumulate between 60 lakhs pkr to 1 crore pkr to fulfil the dream to become a doctor.
