Environmental Pollution Causes, Effects, Prevention- ESSAY, SPEECH
What is Environmental Pollution?
Environmental pollution means the addition of substances or
objects into the air or water that could harm human and animal life.
Environmental pollution is the process that pollutes the environment by adding
harmful substances to it. These harmful substances can add to environment
through natural and chemical changes. Human activities are also big reason of environmental
pollution.
Smoke from cars and factories append in the air, and water to
pollute it. Garbage, and sewer water spread pollution in rivers and oceans.
Electric and internet waves everywhere are also polluting the environment. Today, clean air, and clean water has become a
dream. From the heights of the mountains to the desert, not a single place is
safe from human intervention, experiments, and the resulting filth. Man has forgotten in his quest for progress
that he is ruining his environment with his own hands. At one side, spilling oil
from many ships causes the death of fish and on the other side man is cutting
down the forest and shutting off his own oxygen.
Types of Environmental Pollution:
The major types of pollution are air pollution, water
pollution and land pollution. In modern society, the electric waves of the
Internet, noisy devices, bright neon lights, damaged electric gadgets, radioactive
weapons also cause noise, light and other dangerous types of environmental
pollution. Let us tell you three major types of pollution:
- Water Pollution -
Water pollution means the inclusion of toxic substances into water
bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, etc., that dissolve in them, get stuck in
the water or accumulate on the surface. This lowers the water quality and
pollutes it.
- Air Pollution
Air pollution is caused when harmful solid and liquid particles
and certain gases suspended in the air. These particles and gases can come from
car and truck paths, factory smoke, dust, volcanoes and wildfires. Solid and
liquid particles suspended in our air are called aerosols.
- Land pollution
Land pollution refers to the accumulation of solid or liquid waste
material in the ground or underground in such a way that it contaminates the
soil and groundwater.
Causes of environmental pollution:
There are many causes of environmental pollution.
Industrialization: Man may set up many industries for his own
benefit but the waste material from these industries is polluting the air and
water.
Also the causes of pollution are:
The smoke from cars and ships, burning fuel, inorganic agricultural
activities such as use of chemical fertilizers, use of plastics, reckless
deforestation, mining, urban settlement pressure are also causes of
environmental pollution.
Natural causes of environmental pollution include volcanic
eruption and lava flow, forests on fire and human and animal waste.
Impact and effects of environmental pollution:
Pollution causes imbalances in the environment. Man cannot breathe
in clean air due to which he is prone to many diseases. There spread various
types of allergies, respiratory diseases. Also birth defects, eye and brain
pressure and weakness are increasing due to pollution. Men cannot concentrate on the work due to
diseases. A person living in a polluted environment cannot be a healthy part of
the society. Many animals lose their homes due to environmental pollution. The
cultivable part of land becomes useless. Clean drinking water becomes dirty. Pollution
invisibly fabricates intolerance and irritability in the society -
How to prevent environmental pollution:
Environmental pollution is a common problem we all have to deal
with together. Environmental pollution can be avoided or its effects can be
minimized in the following ways:
- Use as many natural things as possible in your life
- Get close to natural life
- Get on the bus instead of your car for travel, use bicycles -
- Install modern filter systems in industries that dispose of waste properly
- Recycling and reuse should be encouraged
- Use of plastic bags should be prohibited
- Reduce the use of artificial light
- Reduce smoking
- Use fans instead of air conditioner
It is our responsibility to provide a clean environment for our
future generations. Give it a consideration and strive to get the clean
environment.
