FIRST YEAR ADMISSION GUIDE, SUBJECTS, FEES & COLLEGES IN PAKISTAN

After any student passes Matric class 10 exam, he/she may be little confused on which subjects he/she should choose in the first year? Which study group best suits to her aptitude? How and where I can get admission in first year in Pakistan? Here we’ll tell you about the study groups, and programs with a guide to choose a best between them. Taking admission in first year in Pakistan means you’re entering a two year study program to get your successful Higher Secondary School Certificate HSSC.  Your complete certificate will consist of passing first year and second year. You’ll study same subjects both years that you chose at the start of first year.

 

HOW MANY ELECTIVE AND COMPULSORY SUBJECTS YOU NEED TO STUDY IN FIRST YEAR/SECOND YEAR HSSC:

Every student is required to choose three elective subjects from the list given by the college prospectus. These three subjects can be chosen purely on student’s interest. For pre-medical you need to study Physics, Chemistry, Biology For Engineering you can study anyone from:

 Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science

Other three subjects are compulsory in HSSC, first year and second year including Islamiat, English, and Urdu.

Math is not a compulsory subject in First year or HSSC programs whether you study Science or Arts group. It is purely optional that you choose studying Math or not.

For main groups there can be tough competition for merit in the top colleges, so you should buy/download prospectus from more than one college and submit application form in there, if you are afraid that you may not get admission in your desired study group in top college.


STUDY OPTIONS AT FIRST YEAR FOR STUDENTS:

F.SC.:

FSC stands for Faculty of Science. If you choose the science subjects and pass HSSC then it means you’ve passed F.Sc. Choosing science group not only gives you option to apply in professional medical and engineering colleges but also benefit you in higher studies and job seeking opportunities. Science groups may further divided as pre-medical, pre-engineering, general group etc.

F.A.: 

FA stands for Faculty of Arts. If a student choose and pass HSSC with arts subjects for example Psychology, Islamic Studies, History etc then he/she will grab a FA certificate. Students should always choose and study subjects’ according to their interest. Choosing any of arts subjects and continues with it, can definitely open career opportunities for the students like any of science students.

 

I-Com:

  I-Com stands for Integrated Communication. If a student choose business and commerce subjects and pass HSSC then he/she will get an I-com certificate. The students who want to go in business and banking side then they should choose I-Com. 

 

ICS:

  ICS stands for Information and Computer Science, as shows from name, if you choose computer science and IT-related subjects at the start of first year and passes HSSC successfully then you’ll get certificate of ICS.

 

Diploma Programs:

 If any student want to get professional certificate right after matric then many colleges offer professional diplomas of two or three year programs in first year. These diplomas benefit the students who want to come in mainstream earlier for any financial or social reason.

 

  Ist Year Admission Procedure Pakistan:

First year admission starts in Pakistan as soon as the result of class 10 announced in Pakistan. The matric result of all education boards including FBISE, BISE  in Pakistan announced in the month of June every year. The admission of first year starts from July and the classes are commenced from 10th of August every year.

 

Almost 60%-70% students take admission in public sector colleges in Pakistan. There are many private colleges that offer first year admissions on reasonable fees. The students who have compartment, appear in supplementary exam and pass it afterwards can take admission in private colleges. Mostly the merit is very high in renowned public and private sector colleges and the competition is very tough.

To take admission in First year:

  • Download the prospectus with an application form from the website or buy the prospectus from your selected college that also has an application form.
  • Fill in the application
  • Attach required documents including CNIC, B-form, photographs, SSC certificate etc.
  • Submit application in hand or online
  • Deposit fees in college’s prescribed bank branch if you’re submitting admission application online
  • For in hand submission, you may pay the fees at the college counter
  • Once the application, then wait for the first merit list date
  • See your name in the list and start your first year class with full energy

FEE STRUCTURE OF FIRST YEAR IN PAKISTAN

Approximate prospectus fees: PKR 300 in Public College

                                             : PKR 800-PKR 1500 in Private College

 

 Admission fee: Public College: Approx. PKR 2500-PKR 5000 (Depending on the group you choose) .

In public college, students need to submit fee twice in a year. Once in July that also includes tution fees, admission fees etc. and then in December/January that also includes examination fee. You don't need to submit any fees on the monthly basis while studying in a public college.

Also there are many scholarships offered in public colleges for deserving and bright students, you can find details from the office.

          Private College Ist year admission fees : Approx. PKR 10,000- PKR 25,000

Private colleges may ask for tuition fee on the monthly or bi-monthly basis.


 Students are required to attach the following documents along with the admission form.

1.       Four passport size photographs

2.       Two attested photocopies of Matric Result card

3.       Two attested photocopies of character certificate

4.       Two attested copies of CNIC of the father/guardian of the candidate

5.       Two attested photocopy of B form of candidate

6.       Two attested photocopy O-levels result
