ALLAMA MUHAMMAD IQBAL



Poets and writers are like oxygen to any nation who, through their words, not only keep their nation inclined towards life, but also point out the weaknesses within them and suggest beautifying it. We’re a proud nation in which famous poet like Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born. Through his words of poetry, he influenced not only the Muslims of subcontinent but also all the people of Islam all over the world. Through his passionate poetry, he spread the message of respecting and recognizing one’s self-esteem to seek success in life. He wrote poems in Persian and Urdu language. Allama Iqbal encouraged Muslims to raise their voice for their identity and freedom. That is why Allama Iqbal is also called the poet of the East.  Allama Muhammad Iqbal is a national poet of Pakistan. In Iran his work is taught and he is known as “Iqbal of Lahore”.

Allama Iqbal was not only a well-known poet but also an expert jurist, a shrewd politician, thoughtful educator and a prolific writer .

Allama Iqbal's ideas are prominent not only in his poetry but also in his political life. Allama Iqbal's thought breathed new life into the liberation movement of Muslims.

 Allama Iqbal's philosophy became a beacon for the Muslims of the subcontinent. His dream of a separate homeland for Muslims lightened zeal in Muslims. The idea of separate homeland given by Allama Iqbal emerged in such a way that no power could build a bridge in front of which and it was embarrassed in the form of Pakistan.

 

 Bringing together a fragmented, disillusioned nation and the people under years of slavery through his words, inspiring a new hope and setting a new destination for them are achievement that earned Allama Iqbal the status of “Pakistan's National Poet”.

 

When Allama Iqbal was born on November 9, 1877 in the house of Sufi Muhammad in Sialkot, the British were ruling in the subcontinent. He got his early education in Sialkot then came to Lahore. He did B A and MA from Government College, Lahore.  It was the time when Allama Iqbal carefully observed the weaknesses and flaws of his nation .He wrote “Prindey ki Faryad” and Nal e Hind” in those days.

  

Shortly afterwards, Allama Iqbal received a degree in law from Cambridge University, England and did a PhD in philosophy from Germany. In those days, Allama Iqbal had the opportunity to compare his nation with powerful nations. Instead of putting it on, he set out to get his people out of the whirlpool of despair and for that he used his words as a weapon. Certainly the pen has more power than any sword or gun. It went down like a sore in the hearts.

 

"Israr-e-Khudaai", "Ramuz-e-Bekhodi" “Bal e Jibrail” and "Bang-e-Dara" The brilliant creations of Allama Iqbal which still teach a lesson of reform and development of any society even after almost a century has passed. 

On the one hand, Allama Iqbal advises the youth to put their self respect at the forefront and on the other hand, he advises them to turn around for their rights.

Sometimes Allama Iqbal talks to the youth through his imaginary bird Shaheen, sometimes he explains to the children by giving simple examples of

And “pehar aur gulehri”. "aik gaye aur bakrit".

. Here he calls women as the color of the picture universe

The famous poems of Allama Iqbal are “Shikwa” and the “Jawab e shikwa” present such an example of rhetoric from Allah which is still the voice of every Muslim's heart 

The color of Sufism is prominent in the thoughts and words of but his style is simple and common sense. In the poetry of Allama Iqbal, the color of the interpretations of the Qur'an is reflected everywhere.

 Allama Iqbal's poetry has nominated and influenced every member of the society in a very comprehensive manner. Allama Iqbal left us on 21st April 1938 but is still alive in our hearts through his timeless poetry. Even today the people of Pakistan visit the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal at the Bahasahi Mosque in Lahore and the troops of Pakistan Army pay homage to this great national poet.    

Mr. President, the question is whether we have been able to understand the message of Allama Iqbal even after such a long time? Do our young Iqbal birds like Shaheen find their nest in the rocks of the mountains? Do we still find our destination in the palaces of America and Europe instead of prostrations? Mr. President, it is a pity that we still read Iqbal's poetry in books, but we are ignorant and unaware of his true spirit. Thank you
